Fashion and visual art are in the spotlight to kick off October, with Atlanta Fashion Week scheduled for Oct. 1-4 and the Atlanta Art Fair bringing galleries and artists to Pullman Yards during the same weekend.
Fashion takes the runway
Atlanta Fashion Week returns Oct. 1-4 with programming that organizers describe as a mix of fashion, culture and commerce. Fashion Week is designed to showcase independent designers and connect them with consumers, retailers and the broader creative industry.
This year’s program includes fashion presentations, cultural experiences, brand activations, and retail opportunities.
One of the week’s featured events is Bloomingdale’s x ATLFW: The Edit, scheduled for Oct. 4 from noon to 7 p.m. at Lenox Square. The curated shopping experience will feature independent designers and emerging brands from Atlanta and beyond, allowing visitors to see and purchase their work.
The partnership also includes the Bloomingdale’s x ATLFW Retail Incubator, which is designed to help emerging apparel, accessories, and beauty brands enter a major retail environment. Fashion Week’s lineup also features its Next Wave initiative, which provides opportunities for emerging creative talent.
Atlantic Station will also be a destination for Atlanta Fashion Week on Oct. 3, with designer presentations, an immersive fragrance experience, and the Rémy Martin-sponsored The Art of Style Rooftop Soirée.
Art in Kirkwood
The Atlanta Art Fair takes over Pullman Yards in Kirkwood Oct. 1-4. The third edition will feature more than 60 galleries, including exhibitors from Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, Johannesburg, and Uganda. The fair will also include exhibitions, installations, talks, and performances.
Making its debut this year is The Other Art Fair, presented by Saatchi Art, at Enspire Mercantile in Grant Park. The Oct. 1-4 event will bring more than 110 independent artists together for an exhibition and marketplace.
Other arts programming around the weekend includes SITE Contemporary Art Festival at The Goat Farm, with six hours of experimental installations, live performance and music on Oct. 3.
