GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ+ media advocacy organization, has released results from a poll showing overwhelming support to end their attacks on transgender people and focus on the rising cost of living.

The poll, conducted by MRI-Simmons between March 16 and April 2, 2026, found that 44% of registered voters cited “increasing costs or inflation” as their number one concern, and 65% believe politicians use transgender issues to district from more important policies.

Among voters in Georgia, 72% said they were more likely to support midterm candidates who believes “we all deserve the freedom to live our lives without fear of discrimination,” and 70% were more likely to support candidates who focus more on “lowering the cost of living and creating jobs than on issues about transgender people, like restricting government IDs or health care.”

Only eight percent of respondents nationwide said that transgender issues were their top concern.

“GLAAD’s poll again shows that the vast majority of Americans want elected officials to focus on solutions to worsening problems hurting families every day, including the high cost of housing, food, gas, and health insurance,” Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO of GLAAD, said in a statement. “They also overwhelmingly support the right of every American to live free from discrimination. It’s not complicated. On every level, campaigns and politicians that attack transgender people are failing the American people. The people have spoken. It’s time for leaders to listen.”

These findings were taken from an online poll of 5,010 U.S. adults. The results were demographically balanced and weighted to be nationally representative, then fused with the MRI-Simmons USA Study of 52,323 U.S. adults.

The full findings of the poll can be found on GLAAD’s website.
