The Atlanta City Council honored the officers of Atlanta Police Department’s Zone 2 commander Major James Sellers for the apprehension of suspected serial ring robbers who preyed on female shoppers in the Buckhead business district.
City Council members Howard Shook and Clair Muller presented Major Sellers with a proclamation May 3rd at Phipps Plaza.
The Buckhead representatives were joined by former Atlanta Mayor Sam Massel and citywide Atlanta City Council member Mary Norwood.
The series of robberies occurred from
January and continued through March 2007 until police were able to nab the suspects
with the help of video surveillance from the crime locations.
The latest suspect arrested in the robberies was Deuntria Lamar Lyons, 24. Lyons has an extensive criminal history which consists of at least 21 prior arrests.
Also arrested in connection with the robberies were suspects Jasper Walton, 19, and Arthur Thomas, 26.
