The Fulton County Taxpayers Foundation last month surveyed Peachtree property owners and home-owners within a quarter mile of Peachtree to obtain their opinions on a proposed special tax district to fund the mayor’s Peachtree Corridor Task Force recommendations—a key element of which is a streetcar to run the length of the corridor.

There were more than 1,000 responses to the survey, according to FCTF President John Sherman. The results were:

98.7 % do not support the Peachtree Corridor streetcar project with the proposed special tax district.

84.2% would not ride the Peachtree streetcars.

92.4% support a super Community Improvement District , taxing the business community and not the residents.
