The North Buckhead Civic Association board expressed “great concern” at its meeting June 25 upon learning that the former Home Depot Store facility off Sidney Marcus Boulevard in Buckhead has been placed on the market for sale.

The reason for the concern, according to association President Gordon Certain, is that the site “may be the only feasible route for connecting southbound GA 400 to northbound I-85 with a new interchange.

“Many Buckhead interests have cited the lack of completion of the GA 400/I-85 interchange as the cause of much unnecessary traffic in the Buckhead area,” Certain wrote in a letter to a group of 13 political and civic leaders.

The North Buckhead association has been very active in lobbying for completing the interchanges at GA 400 and I-85.

According to the letter from Certain, “if this site is sold and developed with high-riser buildings, it may very well never be possible to connect this inadequate intersection.”
