The 13th annual Junior League Tour of Kitchens is set for the weekend of March 20 and 21 with 14 homes on view, cooking demonstrations and more.
Hours for the tour are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $25 per person, good for both days of the tour, and can be purchased online at www.jlatlanta.org/tok or by calling (404) 261-7799. Only a handful of tickets (priced at $35) will be available on tour days.
The self-guided tour features kitchens located in some of Atlanta’s most notable neighborhoods, including Buckhead, Ansley Park, Morningside, Midtown, Vinings, Sandy Springs and
Dunwoody. The two-day event is the perfect resource for anyone looking to renovate, rejuvenate or simply dream about a fabulous designer kitchen.
“The tour is a great way for those interested in home remodeling and decor to see the latest in kitchen design through real-life, working kitchens in private homes rather than visiting the usual showroom,” said tour chair Marsha Simms.
This year’s participating designers include Thelen Design and Build, CSI Kitchen & Bath, Distinctive Remodeling, Moon Brothers, Diversified Cabinet Distributors, Home Rebuilders, Design Galleria, Brooks Kitchen & Bath, Rose Hall Kitchen Galleria, Home Forge Remodeling, Inspirations Kitchen & Bath, Rao Design Studio, Fusion Design and HammerSmith.
Some of Atlanta’s most notable chefs will be on hand cooking up their specialties for visitors to taste in the tour kitchens. Expected to appear are Carvel Grant Gould of Canoe, Scott Serpas of Serpas, Matt Swickerath of Valenza, Todd Richards from Rolling Bones, Bruce Logue of La Pietra Cucina and Damiano de Nicolo of Shula’s 347.
Outdoor event features include Big Green Egg Executive Chef Bobby Cresap and Special Guest Chef Kevin Rathbun showcasing their work on Big Green Eggs and Fritti’s Head Chef Massimo Andreozzi doing gourmet pizza demonstrations and tastings with a brick oven.
Chef Brent McIntire of Fresh n’Fit Cuisine will feature calorie- conscious cooking, and a special Kids in the Kitchen feature will be hosted by Guest Chef Nancy Waldeck for Taste and Savor Inc.
Also featuring their fare on the tour will be Metro Fresh, Breadwinner, Savor Gourmet, Little Cake Bakery and The Cookie Studio. Gourmet coffee expert Suzanne Brown will offer insights to java, and there will be gourmet cupcakes, cookies and organic produce from Moore Farms.
The public is also invited to attend the popular Toast of the Tour event, an annual kick-off party to be held Thursday, March 4, 7 p.m., at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center (ADAC). The evening will feature food by Soriee Catering and Events through a donation from Thermador, creative cocktails, live music and a silent auction featuring items such as world-class trips to designer handbags.
The Tour of Kitchens is the Junior League of Atlanta’s largest annual special-event fundraiser attracting more than 1,200 attendees. Over the last 12 years of the tour, more than $1 million has been raised for the Junior League’s community service projects and programs with community partners.
