To the editor:

We have just suffered massive flooding throughout our Sandy Springs neighborhoods. The financial and emotional toll on our citizens has been huge.

Our vulnerability for future catastrophes isn’t mere speculation. It’s fact! Not if, but when? The danger has been magnified by the removal of acres of trees and vegetation so to be replaced with acres of impervious concrete to create the new “Cobb Parkway” through our northwest neighborhoods.

Does our city have any plans? Any money for storm drainage? Building up eroded creek banks? Retention ponds? Anything?

Our citizens should not have to be traumatized every time it rains. It’s unconscionable to even consider bike lanes or more sidewalks until this critical problem has been addressed and solutions implemented.
