The following information was provided to the Reporter by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Burglary

5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – A woman reported that she and her boyfriend fell asleep on the floor of the apartment about 1 a.m. April 3. They left the sliding door slightly open because the weather was nice. Just after 4 a.m. she awoke and realized someone had been in the room because the door was open wider. She reported more than $200 missing from her purse. Her boyfriend reported a small amount of cash missing from his pants, which were found on the other side of the room from where he had  left them.

Wilderlake Drive 30328 – The victim reported that someone stole a gun from the residence April 3.

8800 block of Roswell Road 30350 – Azalea Park Apartments staff reported that someone entered the maintenance area April 4, stole several items and vandalized the inside of the shop. The burglar or burglars cut a hole in the roof and dropped to the shop area.

8200 block of Colquitt Road 30350 – A woman reported that she suspects an acquaintance broke into her apartment while she was out of town April 4. She said the man left a sign for her, opened a letter of hers and left pickles on her bedroom floor. She said the man likes pickles. The front door had been kicked in.

200 block of Huntcliff Village Court 30350 – Someone entered an apartment through an unlocked window and removed a TV from the wall April 4, then left through the front door.

300 block of Summerset Lane 30350 – A resident reported discovering her neighbor’s apartment had been burglarized April 5. Before, she heard a knock at the door and saw two men. They are believed to be responsible for the burglary next door. The car they used was a 1990s Chevrolet Z-71.

300 block of Summit Place 30350 – Someone entered an unlocked apartment while the resident was out April 5. A gun and a laptop computer were stolen.

200 block of Harbor Pointe 30350 – A woman reported that she had an overnight guest April 6. She left for work the next day, and when she came home, her TV, computer and phone were missing. No forced entry to the apartment was found. The guest is on the short list of suspects.

5300 block of Peachtree-Dunwoody Road 30342 – Someone kicked in an apartment door April 7.

200 block of Sandy Springs Place 30328 – Someone threw a brick through the glass front of Nail USA overnight April 7 and stole a flat-screen television.

Theft

700 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – The owner of a parking boot (locking device for illegal parking) reported April 3 that the boot and the booted car were gone. He called the car owner, who said only that she left the boot where the car was parked.

6600 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A woman reported that while she was having her hair done April 6, she left her purse in a chair near the front desk. She later discovered that her wallet was missing.

1000 block of Pitts Road 30350 – A 2001 Nissan Pathfinder was reported stolen April 3 after the owner lent the car to a girl and her boyfriend.

6000 block of Roswell Road 30328 – The manager of McDonald’s reported that around 4 a.m. April 3, someone broke the drive-through window and took the till from the register and a small amount of cash.

200 block of Winding River Drive 30350 – A woman said she was at another person’s apartment doing that person’s hair April 4 when that person’s brother asked for $60 to buy cocaine. She declined. Later, $60 was missing from her purse. She confronted the man, who said he took only $10.

Concourse Parkway 30328 – An office employee reported April 5 that someone removed a computer server, valued at $700, from the basement area of the office.

5200 block of Spring Creek Lane 30350 – A man lent a PlayStation Portable Model UMB 3000 to a man known to him only as Raymond. Raymond went on vacation, and when he returned, he said the thing was lost. Raymond’s girlfriend informed the victim that Raymond had no intention of returning it. The man tried to get his PlayStation back April 5, but Raymond wanted to fight.

6300 block of Roswell Road – A woman left her wallet in a restaurant. She returned and spoke to the hostess, who said she found the wallet and went outside to return it but the woman had already left. The hostess said she turned it over to the manager. When the woman got the wallet back, $1,300 in cash was missing.

700 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – A woman reported April 7 that she and her roommate had a parting of the ways, and she was moving out. The move required more than one trip, and eventually she discovered that her television was missing.

Heards Road 30328 – A woman said that while she was at Riverwood International Charter School on April 7, someone got her wallet and stole several credit cards, which later were used for more than $3,600 in expenses.

High Top Circle 30328 – A resident reported April 6 that a check, left in the mailbox to be mailed, was stolen and changed to be made out to another person. The amount was changed from $250 to $975

400 block of Mount Vernon Highway – A woman said someone stole her Apple iPhone from her office.

7500 block of Roswell Road 30350 – A white 1998 Cadillac DeVille was stolen April 8.

100 block of Hidden Falls Lane 30328 – A 9mm weapon was stolen from a house April 8.

Theft from vehicle

Items were stolen from vehicles broken into at the following locations:

• 800 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328, April 8.

Fraud, forgery and ID theft

5600 block of Roswell Road 30342 – A pharmacist reported April 5 that during the weekend a woman presented a prescription for the drug Oxycontin. The doctor’s office was closed, so the prescription was filled. The pharmacist then found out the prescription was forged.

Londonberry Drive 30327 – The resident reported April 5 that he was in negotiations with a man to sell his house. The prospective buyer signed an intent to purchase the home. The resident asked the man to put down $1,000 in earnest funds. The man gave the homeowner a check. The homeowner later reported the check as fraudulent. He contacted the buyer, who said he would wire money but never did.

8600 block of Roberts Drive 30350 – A resident reported April 5 that she left her apartment, and when she returned, her TV and computer were gone.

Assault

South Powers Court 30328 – A man reported that his mother and her boyfriend were house sitting for her employer April 3. The man said visited the house with his young twin sons. He noticed that his mother and her boyfriend were intoxicated. The boyfriend got abusive with the mother. When the man said something to the boyfriend, the boyfriend hit him several times. The boyfriend was gone when the police arrived.

Arrests

100 block of Sentinnea Close 30350 – Sandy Springs police and the North Metro SWAT Team arrested three people April 8. Jonathan Brown, Brittney Penner and Victoria Robinson were charged with obstruction and possession of marijuana. Initially, officers located a stolen car in the driveway of the home. After police activate the car’s horn, someone opened and closed the garage door. For the next several hours, officers tried to establish contact. A search warrant was obtained, and members of the North Metro SWAT (Sandy Springs, Dunwoody and Johns Creek members) persuaded Brown to exit the house. Penner and Robinson were found hiding in the home and were taken into custody. Brown was wanted in Gwinnett County on forgery charges. Police officers were at the home the previous week to serve the Gwinnett warrant, but Brown was gone. Instead, his 19-year-old son was at the home and was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.

7800 block of Roswell Road 30350 – Employees at a pizza restaurant called the cops April 7 after a man started a disturbance inside the restaurant. The man ordered a slice and a beer. While he was waiting, he fell asleep, apparently because he had been drinking. The staff told him he couldn’t sleep there because other customers were in the restaurant. The man then cursed at the staff. He went behind the counter and took a swing at an employee, who held him while other employees called 911. The man was arrested.

Cedar Run 30350 – A domestic-violence call came in April 3 and police arrested the woman after she pushed her boyfriend, leaving scratches on him. He had locked her out of the apartment, then let her in.

North River Drive 30350 – Officers answered a domestic-violence call at an apartment April 3. They arrested the woman for punching her boyfriend in the stomach and head.

North River Drive 30350 – A man called the cops because he and his wife were arguing over their fish. While mediating the argument, an officer saw glass pipes and some marijuana on a table. He arrested the man.

7000 block of Roswell Road 30328 – Responding to a fire call April 3, the responding officer met with fire personnel and the resident of the apartment. The resident appeared intoxicated and was holding some marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Turns out he was trying to cook while stoned or drunk and started a fire. The smoke set the alarm off, so he grabbed his most important belongings and fled the apartment. He was arrested.

1400 block of Summit Place Drive 30350 – A man and his pit bull, previously given trespass warnings not to enter the apartment property, returned April 4. A patrol officer saw the man, who saw the officer and ran. Two cops chased him and his pit bull to another complex and found the behind a stairwell. He was arrested.

Cimarron Parkway 30350 – Four people were charged with possession of marijuana April 4 after cops received a complaint the four were getting stoned at the gazebo.

6000 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A man and woman ordered dinner, a bottle of Grey Goose vodka and Red Bull for their dining pleasure April 4. When the $294 bill was presented, the woman’s credit card was declined. The man asked the manager to allow the woman to leave and get the money to pay the bill. The woman left and neither returned nor answered her phone. The man, who remained, was charged with theft of services and probably learned a valuable lesson that night: Always request that you be allowed to leave and get the funds.

Winding River Drive 30350 – A woman flagged a patrol officer April 6 and pointed to a green vehicle leaving the area. The woman said the car hit her. The officer followed but briefly lost the green car. Seconds later, he found it wrecked against a tree. Two males ran along a creek bed. The K-9 unit tracked one of the suspects, who surrendered and admitted stealing the car, although no one mentioned anything about a stolen car. The car was stolen in Charlotte, N.C. The suspect, a juvenile, was taken to youth detention; the other suspect, also a juvenile, is being sought.

People with issues

200 block of Franklin Road 30342 – A leasing agent at an apartment complex said a potential customer came in to rent an apartment. Her application was denied because of bad credit. The potential renter’s aunt came in and yelled, then chased the leasing agent around the desk. She left after the agent called police.
