Howard Finster "Washington"A new gallery, Peters Street Projects, officially opens Friday, May 14, with a reception from 7 to 10 p.m. The gallery is at 163 Peters St. The first exhibition is  called “WORD,” featuring language and visual art.

The gallery was created by Massoud Besharat, who also runs Besharat Gallery in the Castleberry Hill district. Mark Mason Karelson, co-owner and Director of Mason Murer Fine Art, will curate exhibitions at the gallery.

The “WORD” features work by an impressive line up of artists including Robert Rauschenberg, Robert Motherwell, Larry Walker, Donald Locke, Wosene Kosrof,  Herbert Creecy, Howard Finster (pictured at left), Michael Scoggins, J B Murry, Leroy Almon, James McLaughlin Way, Sadegh Tabrizi, Helen Durrant, Sam Parker, Diane Clark, Alvaro Alvillar, Marquetta Johnson, Ivan Moreno, Terry Turrell and Ned Cartledge.
