After a woman alleged that she was the victim of racial profiling on Oct. 7 at Morgan Falls Overlook Park, the Sandy Springs Police Department released more details about why several of its officers were on site conducting an investigation.
A Sandy Springs woman had posted on social media that she believed she was being racially profiled by the police, which occurred at the same time that police personnel were at the park conducting the investigation.
According to an Oct. 9 press release, the department has been conducting “a coordinated human trafficking operation targeting individuals involved in sexual exploitation and related criminal activity.” The investigation led to four arrests and the rescue of four victims.

“The charges resulting from this operation highlight the serious nature of human trafficking and crimes involving children,” the announcement said. “The Sandy Springs Police Department remains committed to thoroughly investigating these offenses, protecting vulnerable individuals, and ensuring those responsible are held accountable through the justice system.”
