The Sandy Springs Society will announce the recipient of the Spirit of Sandy Springs award at its annual luncheon May 19.
The award is bestowed on a volunteer who exemplifies community spirit through commitment to bettering Sandy Springs.
Last year’s winner was Guy Berger, father of Fulton County Schools Superintendent Cindy Loe. Berger has served the community for more than 35 years through organizations like Heritage Sandy Springs and Sandy Springs Kiwanis Club.
Sandy Springs Society is a nonprofit organization that for more than 20 years has raised funds for nonprofits like the Sandy Springs Mission. The group of around 250 women was also responsible for the fiberglass turtle sculptures around Sandy Springs.
