On May 25, plans for Congregation Or Hadash’s new synagogue were introduced at Sandy Springs City Hall.
The 350-member congregation plans to purchase more than 2 acres and the 24,000-square-foot building at the intersection of Trowbridge and Roswell roads in Sandy Springs, said Project Manager Simon Ingler of Gunthert Company. The property and structure once was part of the Tom Jumper Chevrolet service center.
The 7-year-old Or Hadash is seeking four variances from the city of Sandy Springs to use the structure as their new permanent synagogue. The congregation has been meeting in temporary quarters since its inception and currently is housed at the Weber School on Roswell Road.
No one expressed opposition at the May meeting.
The plans will go before the Planning Commission on July 15. The City Council is set to take a final vote August 17.
