The Savannah College of Art and Design announced that Bret Easton Ellis, the author of American Pyscho will lecture for its popular Ivy Hall Writers Series. Ellis is scheduled to speak on Friday, June 18, from 6:30-8 p.m. at SCAD’s Atlanta campus at 1600 Peachtree St.
“We are thrilled to have Bret Easton Ellis at SCAD to launch his new novel, Imperial Bedrooms,” says Georgia Lee, director of Ivy Hall. “His visit to the university continues our goal of presenting a fascinating and diverse group of authors to our students and the community as part of the Ivy Hall Writers Series.”
Imperial Bedrooms is a 25th- anniversary sequel to Less Than Zero, the 1985 novel that brought him to fame. The bleak tale of Los Angeles teenagers became a New York Times bestseller, was translated into 20 languages and released as a feature film in 1987. After graduating from Bennington College, Ellis moved to New York and wrote his second novel, The Rules of Attraction, which addressed campus life at the height of the Reagan Era.
Following the lecture is a book-signing as well as sales, courtesy of A Cappella Books.
The Plaza Theatre on Ponce is hosting a special screening of Ellis’ American Psycho. The first 50 guests to bring their ticket stub from the theatre to SCAD’s lecture on Friday night at 6:30pm will receive a poster signed by Ellis!
