The following information was provided to the Reporter by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Robbers sentenced

In July last year, an armed robbery and aggravated assault occurred at The Parc of Dunwoody apartments. The victims followed the people, who shot at them three times, but crashed at Northridge Road and Ga. 400. Sandy Springs police, Roswell police, Fulton County sheriff’s deputies and Fulton County marshals all responded to the scene and helped establish a perimeter until the culprits were located and arrested. The three were sentenced recently to 15 years each in prison.

2010 speakers bureau

Robbery

1300 block of Spring Creek Lane 30350 – A cabbie said he picked up three young men June 2. They all got into the cab, but one got back out and said he would be right back. The other two put on masks, pulled a knife on the driver and took $150 in cash.

5500 block of New Northside Drive 30327 – A man robbed the clerk at the Chevron station June 3. The culprit’s car was identified and recovered in Cobb County, but the robber has not been arrested.

Burglary

800 block of Lake Placid Drive 30342 – Forced entry was made into an apartment May 31, and a television was taken.

Riley Terrace 30328 – A resident returned home from out of town May 31 and found his garage door open. He further found that his home had been burglarized. The stolen items included a computer and jewelry.

400 block of Morgan Falls Road 30350 – A construction trailer was broken into June 1.

5600 block of New Northside Drive 30328 – Someone stole copper wire and door hardware from a construction site June 1.

5400 block of Glenridge Drive 30342 – Someone entered an apartment June 1 and removed an electronic keyboard, a recording device and software. The value of the loss was more than $3,000. The victim said he thinks the burglar is an acquaintance.

5500 block of Glenridge Drive 30342 – An apartment was burglarized without forced entry June 1. An Xbox system and games were taken.

500 block of North River Parkway 30350 – Someone broke into the maintenance shop of an apartment complex June 2. Among the items missing were two bikes. The maintenance supervisor later saw two teenage males on the stolen bikes. He confronted the juveniles, who proved to be residents of the complex, and they claimed they found the bikes in a wooded area and took them instead of walking to the store. The bikes were recovered, and the case is being investigated.

1000 block of Pitts Road 30350 – Someone entered an apartment by forcing open a kitchen window June 3. A laptop and toolbox were taken.

Theft

Target reported that a man took a cell phone valued at $130 and exited the store without paying. He left in a Ford F-150.

An unrelated theft occurred at Target when a woman removed two packages of Eternity Fragrance in the women’s bathroom. She then left the store without paying.

I-285 and Riverside Drive 30328 – A white 1999 Ford Taurus was stolen from the side of the road overnight May 31 after the driver broke down.

Monterrey Parkway 30350 – Two guys reported that a third roommate moved out and took $100 in cash and a jacket valued at $50.

Morgan Falls Road 30350 – A woman reported that someone entered her office and took her wallet, credit cards and cash during the morning hours of June 3.

6300 block of Powers Ferry Road 30327 – Four air-conditioning units were stolen from a commercial building during the Memorial Day weekend.

400 block of Summer Drive 30328 – A motorcycle was reported stolen June 2.

6300 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A man walked into Marshall’s on June 2, went to the men’s shirt section, grabbed an armful of items and tried to run out the side door. That door was locked, so he ran out the front door to a waiting 2003 Hyundai Accent van.

1100 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328 – A man reported that his locker at LA Fitness was entered June 2 after the lock was cut, and his personal property was taken. His keys were found outside the gym. A second theft was reported at the same location.

An apartment-complex employee reported that an ex-employee apparently stole several money orders that tenants left with him for rent payments.

4500 block of Roswell Road 30342 – The victim rode his chrome chopper bike to Rite Aid on June 3. As soon as he walked in, he saw two boys around 12 or 13 years old take his bike and ride off.

4800 block of Roswell Road 30342 – Two residents of the Dogwood Forest senior community reported that items including credit cards and cash were stolen from their rooms June 3.

7500 block of Roswell Road 30350 – A woman reported June 3 that she had lent her car to a man. He left May 29 and has not returned. The victim found the man’s wife, who told her she thought he was in Ohio.

Theft from vehicle

Items were stolen from vehicles broken into at the following locations:

• 1000 block of Crestline Parkway 30342, May 31.

• 1100 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328, June 1.

• Brighton Point 30328, June 2.

• Forrest Place 30328, two vehicles, June 3.

• 200 block of Legran View 30328, June 3.

• 1100 block of Mount Vernon Highway 30328, June 3.

Fraud, forgery and ID theft

A pharmacist reported that someone impersonating a doctor tried to call in a prescription for Lortab, but did so in a manner that indicated the call was fraudulent. The attempt was not successful.

A man reported that someone used his personal information to open a Dish TV account in Las Vegas.

A resident reported that someone used his debit card information to purchase a Nu-Wave oven and items from Black & Decker, Time-Life, Eddie Bauer and elsewhere. The value of the fraud was more than $600. The Nu-Wave oven was delivered to an address on Buford Highway.

A woman reported that she received a new Home Depot card in the mail. She called Home Deport and said she never applied for a card. She found that a card was applied for in Panama City, Fla., and purchases were immediately made in the amount of $6,000.

Assault

5800 block of Roswell Road 30328 – A man reported that while dancing at the Cocktail Cove bar May 31, he bumped another guy, who took exception and punched him in the nose, causing a cut. He went home and called Marietta police, who told him he needed to call us.

A man and woman, visiting a sick relative at the hospital, got into an argument over a card game. The man threw a cell phone and hit the woman in the head. He left the hospital before the cops arrived. The woman was reluctant to press charges.

A woman reported that she met a man online. The man’s name is Wally. She invited him to move in, but did not know his name. When she asked him his last name, he slugged her, punched a hole in the wall and left.

A woman reported that she and her boyfriend were driving in north Sandy Springs when he became angry with her. He drove on the wrong side of the road, then stopped and pushed her and her belongings out of the car. He drove off. She suffered a small abrasion.

Arrests

Cops arrested a man after the following: He was getting a ride from a woman. She wanted to let him off at a MARTA station, but he wanted to get off somewhere in Doraville. An argument ensued, and the man grabbed the steering wheel, causing the car to go out of control. As the driver swerved to avoid being killed by an oncoming car, she sideswiped another car. Luckily, no one was killed or injured. The officer determined that this guy almost got everyone killed, so he was arrested and taken to the jail in Doraville.

1100 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – Police were called to a tavern after a male and female got into a loud argument in the parking lot. Officers separated the two. Witnesses said they saw each throw the beer from a mug onto the other. During the discussion, the man kept interfering with an officer while he spoke with the woman. He was told to move back but didn’t. He was arrested and placed in the police car. The woman got into a Ford Taurus but moved the car only a few feet before the officers got her out. She gave the officers a fake date of birth. She was checked on the computer and showed a history of DUI. She was arrested on disorderly and DUI charges.

500 block of Northridge Road 30350 – A woman called the police May 31 and said a man was trying to break into her apartment through the front door. When the cops got there, the man had been sleeping on a car but now was drunk and stumbling through the parking lot. The man said he lived at that apartment but had apparently gotten lost because of his condition. He was arrested.

6900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – Officers were called to stabbing. They determined that a man and his girlfriend got into an argument that involved throwing each other’s personal belongings off the apartment balcony. The woman pulled a pocket knife and cut the man on his hand, leaving a deep laceration. The woman was arrested, and the man was taken to the hospital.

1100 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – The staff at Publix detained a man who stole two packs of Robitussin gels and concealed them under his shirt. He was arrested.

Glenridge Stratford Drive 30342 – A man called the police June 2 after his wife pulled a knife on him. The man said his wife wanted him to help clean the apartment, but he was going to work. She threw a plastic container that hit him in the head, causing a cut. She then pulled a kitchen knife and came at him while slashing the knife back and forth. The man pushed her down and fled the apartment. The woman acknowledged pulling the knife but said she didn’t intend to stab him, only to motivate him to clean. She was arrested.

3000 block of Summer Lake Drive 30350 – A 29-year-old woman was arrested on prostitution charges June 2 after vice officers answered an Internet ad for prostitution services in the Sandy Springs area. The woman, going by the name Godiva, agreed to provide sex for money. She was arrested after meeting with a vice officer she thought was a customer.

1000 block of Hammond Drive 30328 – Vice officers arrested a 45-year-old woman June 1 after answering an Internet ad for prostitution services in the Sandy Springs area. The woman faces charges related to the solicitation of prostitution and drugs.

Other things

Santa Fe Parkway 30350 – A woman reported that her apartment was flooded in the back bedroom area. An officer determined the washing machine was leaking. He disconnected the waterline to the washer. A plumber would have charged $100.

A woman reported that she broke off her relationship with her boyfriend, but he continues to text and call her. She listed one day with 34 calls.

A doctor reported that he received two faxes from companies requesting confirmation that he had seen a company employee and sent a written document that the employee should take the day off. Someone had used the doctor’s letterhead and logo to make an official document stating that the employee should not work.
