The Sandy Springs Police Department and Target will hold the 27th annual National Night Out at Hammond Park from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 3.

“The goal of National Night Out is to create a safe and healthy community, so we involve residents and public safety personnel,” Police Chief Terry Sult said in a press release July 6. “We do this while also creating a unique crime and drug prevention event that takes place right in our neighborhood.”

The event, held in the park at 6005 Hammond Drive, will feature car safety seat checks and will provide information about Neighborhood Watch programs. Kids will be able to tour a fire safety house.
