School officials from Atlanta and Fulton County have agreed to settle a lawsuit over city students attending Riverwood International Charter School, a city schools spokesman said.
Atlanta Public Schools brought suit in May, claiming the Sandy Springs school wrongly enrolled students who lived in the city of Atlanta. APS said the Fulton County schools should not enroll Atlanta students without a legal agreement between the two systems governing the out-of-district enrollments.
APS spokesman Keith Bromery said the lawsuit has been settled by an agreement that allows about 100 Riverwood students to continue to attend the school, but does not allow enrollment of any more Atlanta residents. “The kids already enrolled, from last year back, they’re grandfathered,” he said.
Attempts to reach Fulton County school officials for comment were not successful.
