The availability of dedicated parking spaces again became an issue with the consideration of an alcoholic beverage license by the Safety Committee of Neighborhood Planning Unit B, but this time it wasn’t related to a new bar in Buckhead’s West Village.

This time, the applicant was ph Wine Merchant, a wine specialty store that will be opening in Peachtree Hills at the corner of Peachtree Hills Avenue and Kings Circle.

Although ph Wine Merchant is a retail store and its customers likely will not require many parking spaces at any given time, the owners plan to hold classes and wine tastings at the store, which will require additional parking.

A recent change in the city ordinance now allows wine tastings under a license for packaged wines to go.

Patrick Shippey told the committee arrangements had been made for 10 allotted parking spaces in an adjacent parking area, but committee members. Peachtree Hills neighborhood president Kristy Gillmann said those spaces are used by the Treehouse restaurant.

The application was approved for ph Wine Merchant, which plans a mid-October opening.
