The following information was provided to the Sandy Springs Reporter by the Sandy Springs Police Department and is presumed to be accurate.

ROBBERY

8800 Dunwoody Place 30350

Just before 4 a.m. on Sept. 26 a man was leaving an apartment. In the parking lot, he was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette. He told the man he didn’t have one. At that time a second man came from behind a tree and pulled a gun on him. They took $150 cash.

230 Mt. Vernon Hwy 30328

Just after midnight on Sept. 27, two men came into a restaurant. One pulled a gun and demanded money from the cash register. They could not unlock the register, so they took about $100 from the employees and then left. A third man was outside as a lookout.

1700 block of Sandalwood Drive 30350

Just after 10 p.m. on Sept. 28, a woman reported that she was outside her apartment building walking to another when she was attacked by a man wearing a red shirt. He punched her in the head and stole her purse and cell phone. The victim had a cut on her head but was not transported to the hospital.

6600 block of Roswell Road 30328

Around 11 a.m. on Sept. 22, an employee of a fast-food restaurant in the left from the back door, intending to walk to the adjacent bank branch with cash in a bank deposit bag. As she did so, a black Chevy Tahoe drove past and stopped. A man got out and got into a struggle with the victim before wrestling the bag from her. The man got back into the Tahoe and left. The tag on the Tahoe was identified as BJB-6509.

BURGLARY

1155 Hammond Drive 30328

Officers responded to a suspicious-person call Sept. 26 and found a broken window leading to a business. They did not find anyone inside but a witness said they heard the glass break and saw a man run away.

990 Hammond Drive 30328

Someone entered a small office-park café between 4 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. Sept. 28 and took money and cigarettes. This same business had a similar incident last month.

400 block of Wyncourtney Drive

The victim said he heard a crash about 5 a.m. Sept. 26 and found that someone threw a brick through the window of a back door and then took a computer, camera, and cash from a desk.

6980 Roswell Road 30328

French doors were forced open between 8 a.m. Sept. 24 and 4:45 p.m Sept. 26. A TV and other electronics were taken.

1900 block of Treelodge Parkway 30350

A woman reported on Sept. 26 that her wedding ring, Gucci shoes and a bra are missing. She and her husband are going through a divorce. They still live together, but area not on speaking terms.

960 Johnson Ferry Road 30342

Someone broke into an office on Sept. 27 and took just over $260 in cash from the petty-cash box.

1500 block of Spring Creek Lane 30350

1130 Lake Hearn Drive 30342 9/29

Someone broke into the building overnight and took cash, cigarettes, and other items.

5345 Roswell Road 30342

Just before 3 a.m. on Sept. 29 officers responded to a gas station and found that someone threw a rock in the front glass door and had gotten inside. A witness nearby saw a car drive around the station and then a man wearing a gray hoodie came out from the building carrying a box later identified as a cash box. The man left in a red convertible, possibly a Plymouth, with a black top.

600 block of Tanglewood Trail 30328

The resident reported that she got a call from her alarm company that her alarm activated on Sept. 29. Ten minutes later she returned home and found that someone had forced the door open. Officers checked the house and found that a television and jewelry had been taken.

Highland Park Trail 30328

Upon answering an alarm from shortly before 10 a.m. Sept. 19, officers met with an apartment staff member and found evidence that someone attempted to break into the leasing office. The impact of the forced entry set off the alarm and the suspect fled. Nothing was taken.

1000 block of Brentwood Drive 30350

On Sept. 20, someone broke into an apartment in the through a window and took a TV and video games.

7100 block of Hunter’s Branch Drive 30328

A resident said someone forced entry into the house from the carport door between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sept. 20. Missing is A television and computer were missing.

7700 block of Colquitt Road 30350

A storage unit in the Road was burglarized on Sept. 20.

4586 Roswell Road 30342

Someone forced a window open in the living room of a home between noon and 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 and took the victim’s surround-sound system.

1100 block of Hightower Road 30350

Someone forced entry to a business in the 1100 block of Hightower Road on Sept. 23 and tried to take a television from the wall, but apparently could not dislodge it from the wall mount.

8500 block of Roswell Road 30350

Answering an alarm on Sept. 23, officers found that someone threw a rock through the front window of the “Signs Sell” business and took a computer.

5675 Roswell Road 30342

Between 8 and 9:40 a.m. Sept. 21, someone entered an apartment through an unlocked window and then took two computers and an undisclosed amount of cash.

700 block of Whitemere Court 30328

The victim came home Sept. 23 to find her garage and front doors open. The front doors were forced open. Televisions, computers, and other electronics were taken.

4000 block of Dudley Lane 30342

The complainant said several pieces of jewelry were taken between 6 a.m. Sept. 22 and 6 p.m. Sept. 23. She said that between the above times, there was someone at the home repairing the garage door.

300 block of Spalding Lake Court 30350

The victim returned home Sept. 23 and found that a number of pieces of jewelry and silverware were taken.

THEFT

7285 Roswell Road 30328

This person reported that she was at a bar Sept. 26 and left her purse on the table, located outside on a deck, at about 10 p.m. to dance. She returned at 1 a.m. to find the purse gone.

1155 Mt. Vernon Hwy 30328

A man reported that someone took his wallet from his locker at a gym on Sept. 29.

5600 block of Colton Drive 30342 9/26

Two men said they were out at a bar on Sept. 26 and met four other men. They returned to the victim’s home and according to the victim, the four men became loud and rowdy just after 4 a.m. Later, the four men left. Later still, the victim found several items missing. The victim did have the suspect’s e-mail and the suspects were later found on Facebook. That case is under investigation.

7000 Roswell Road 30328

An apartment resident reported Sept. 27 that an apartment maintenance worker came over to fix a leaky faucet in the bathroom. Afterwards, the victim noted a Nike watch was missing from the adjacent bedroom.

Summit Place Drive 30350

A man reported on Sept. 28 that his roommate moved out and took his bathroom towels.

A man on Northwood Drive said he placed his cell phone on the back of his couch. He had some friends over and now the phone is missing. It might be theft. but if it fell between and then under the cushions, it most likely entered a parallel universe, never to be seen again.

1165 Perimeter Center West 30328

Employees of an outdoor recreation store said a woman came in Sept. 19 and wanted to return property that they believe was stolen from another store. Employees said they could only give a store credit. While they were trying to figure it out, the woman grabbed some shoes, a backpack, and water bottle and then ran out and got into a Subaru Legacy and left. The car was registered to a woman in Avondale.

805 Mt. Vernon Hwy 30328

A stolen cell phone was reported from a gymnasium area on Sept. 21.

6000 block of Roswell Road 30328

A man reported that he rented camera equipment to a man in Chicago. The victim said the man didn’t return the equipment on the due date, saying the items were stolen from him. The victim said he later saw his equipment credited for a photo shoot on Facebook. The credit was given on a date past when the suspect said it was stolen.

1100 Hammond Drive 30328

On Sept. 21, someone stole a laptop from a business office.

800 block of Jefferson Drive 30350

Bike stolen on Sept. 21.

5956 Roswell Road 30328

A gym employee said someone stole $170 cash on Sept. 22.

1400 block of South Johnson Ferry Road 30342

A woman reported that while at work at an assisted-living center on Sept. 22, her purse was stolen from a locked file drawer. The credit cards were later used to buy several Marta bus passes, gas charges on Old National Highway, Waffle House, and an unsuccessful attempt to use the cards at a Wal-Mart.

7741 Roswell Road 30350

A woman, who works at the day care center at the North Fulton Annex, said someone stole her wallet from her office area on sept. 23.

FRAUD, FORGERY AND

I.D. THEFT

A man reported that a caregiver, hired to take care of a family member, stole a number of checks and over the course of more than a year, cashed them to herself. The loss amounted to more than $27,000.

A man in North Carolina reported that when he went to file for unemployment, he was told that it was denied because he was working in Sandy Springs. They told him that a business in the 8000 block of Roswell Road hired a man using his name and personal information.

A man reported that his friend used his name and information after being stopped and issued three citations by the police in Maryland.

ASSAULTS

On Sept. 19, a woman on Glenridge Drive said her live-in boyfriend came home late. She questioned him about his whereabouts and he threw a piece of cake and a laptop at her.

Windsor Parkway 30342

A woman reported a neighbor made a threatening gesture to her after ringing her doorbell on Sept. 19. Officers talked to the man, who refused to say anything. The man complained to a supervisor saying that he was being intimidated during the conversation with the officer. He cursed at the officer and later called the 9-1-1 center and then cursed at them.

6420 Roswell Road 30328

Cops were called to Flasher’s on Sept. 19 and met with a dancer who said another female employee came outside where she was sitting and poured water on her head. A fight ensued and her nose was fractured.

8350 Roswell Road 30350 9/29

A man called the police and said he was assaulted. He said he went through the gated entrance to an apartment complex and, after he passed through, another car came in behind him before the gate lowered. The victim got out and wrote down the tag number. According to him, the other driver got out and punched him in the face.

Area patrol officers later found the car and stopped it. The driver of that car said he did piggyback on the first. He was dropping his daughter off. He said the first guy flipped him off and then punched him. The first guy has declined to prosecute.

ARRESTS

Redbourne Drive and Hunters Woods Drive 30350

On Sept. 19, officers responded to a call and spoke with a man who was sleeping in a car at the end of the street. The man said he and his friend visited another friend on that street but they couldn’t spend the night there so they slept in their cars. Turns out both were wanted by Milton police on a theft charge. They were arrested and the cars were impounded.

North Hampton Drive 30350

On Sept. 19, an officer, who had responded to a domestic violence call, checked a man on his computer. The man came back wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court in Fulton County. He was arrested.

7843 Roswell Road 30350

While responding to a call on Sept. 27, an officer checked the tag on a car occupied by several people. The car came back on the computer as stolen. Two people were later arrested. The car had been stolen two days earlier in Roswell.

A woman, with a baby in a stroller, stole a watch from Target in full view of the security cameras. She was arrested. The father came to the police department and took the child. The mother was sent to Doraville Jail for the $37 theft.

7530 Roswell Road 30350

Responding to a fight call on Sept. 27, officers spoke with several people who were assaulted by several young men. The victims obtained a tag number and the suspect’s vehicle was found a short time later on Spring Creek Lane. It was later determined the suspects had harassed the victims inside the store for no apparent reason and then assaulted them outside the store. The suspects were arrested.

5610 Roswell Road

A man entered a store and took a 32-inch TV, placed it in a cart, and then tried to leave the store by pushing the cart past the checkout area. A security employee stopped him and the man resisted and fought with the security employee. He was detained and later taken to Fulton County Jail.

Another man walked into the same store after picking up a receipt in the parking lot. He found the items listed on the receipt, and then tried to return them to customer service for a cash refund. He was arrested.

227 Sandy Springs Place 30328

A woman was detained on Sept. 20 and later arrested for stealing $23 in nail polish and vitamins from a grocery.

500 block of Northridge Road

Just after 3 a.m on Sept. 20, officers received a call of a drunk woman knocking on doors. They asked her why she was knocking on doors. She said she paid her drug dealer twenty-five bucks for some weed. He took the money, left, and didn’t return. Turns out the woman was wanted on a previous warrant. She was arrested.

227 Sandy Springs Place

Cops were called to a grocery store and met with employees about a woman who left her kids in a car for about fifteen minutes. It was 88 degrees outside. She then went in and stole several Maybelline items including lip color, lip gloss, foundation, and one LRL True Match.

7100 Roswell Road 30328

Detectives arrested a man at an apartment complex on Sept. 23 following a drug investigation. He was charged with possessing the drugs with the intent to distribute them. They include marijuana, Oxycodone, Endocet, and others.

Several days earlier, detectives arrested and charged two men with distributing drugs in the back of a taxi cab. The cabbie picked up the man at his apartment on Hilderbrand Drive and drove him around while he dealt the drugs. The two were later arrested and the taxi confiscated with the drugs.

TESTOSTERONE IN ACTION

Cops were called to Forest Hills Drive Sept. 23 and met with a man who said he drove past a dump truck parked along, and according to him, blocking the street. When he did so, a man next to the dump truck honked his horn and made a rude gesture. The man said he was “shocked” and stopped the car a short distance from the truck. Suddenly, the driver of the truck came up to the shocked man cursed at him and threatened him.

The driver of the truck tells a completely different story. He said the driver of the car made the gesture after almost hitting him. He honked at the car driver to “warn” him that he almost hit him. The truck driver said the other guy drove up the street, stopped, and returned and then began cursing at him and then called him a redneck!! Apparently both men had a dial-off to 9-1-1. Both claimed credit for the call.
