Rebekah Hynson, a 25 year-old personal trainer and Cabbagetown resident, is a bundle of energy and charisma. On Nov. 6, she will look to burn some of that energy and defend her title as “The Fastest Woman in Cabbagetown” in the 5th annual Romp and Stomp 5k.
Does the title come with many perks?
Absolutely, I’m being featured in a newspaper…how awesome is that?
Very awesome. Are you faster than your husband, Ian?
No! Not even when I’m in shape and he is not. He ran a 4.17 mile in college!
Tell me about Last Call Boot Camp. Seems like a time for a cab driver not a personal trainer.
I was a server for many years and was always jealous of the boot camps that 9 to 5’ers were able to attend. So I started my own with more accommodating time slots.
You defied the wind resistance and won the East Atlanta Strut 5k wearing a tutu.
The tutu creates a home field advantage – even strangers cheer for me!
It seems Boot Camp instructors have really evolved?
Wearing a tutu will only improve your fitness ability as far as I’m concerned.
Perhaps the military should take note. Why are so many Intowners boot camping these days?
Boot camps cover all major aspects of fitness in an hour and you get a personal trainer with all the perks at a fraction of the cost.
What is your favorite exercise to inflict?
I love wall balls, box jumps, and overhead squats with a heavy kettle bell. Oh, who am I kidding? I love them all.
You make them sound fun, like eating Skittles. Any advice for someone who has never run a 5k in a tutu?
You are missing out! A 5k is fun, but a 5k in a tutu is even better. Everyone should try it!
