A soda machine at North Springs Charter High School in Sandy Springs began to malfunction at around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 13, causing school officials to temporarily evacuate students.

Sandy Springs Police Lt. Steve Rose said via e-mail the a machine started smoking but, “The machine did not catch on fire. No damage to the school building was reported.”

Susan Hale, a spokesperson for Fulton County Schools, said the evacuation lasted about 20 minutes.
