The following information was provided by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
Robbery
Police responded to a call from a man who said he was robbed at his apartment after meeting and bringing a woman to his place. He said another man was waiting on him and pulled a gun and took him inside the apartment. They kept threatening him and demanding to know where the money was. The man said he was going to take the victim to the bank to withdraw more funds. The robbery didn’t pan out. The investigation is centering on all of the people involved and there is more to this than on the surface—meaning we’re not sure who the bad guys and the good guys really are.
Burglary
6100 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On September 24 officers responding to an alarm around 3:50 a.m. found the glass door broken. They did not find anyone inside the business. There were some items taken.
700 block of Monterrey Parkway 30350 – On September 24 the victim’s apartment was entered and a 50-inch TV was taken as well as some other digital items, jewelry and clothing.
500 block of Summer Drive 30350 – On September 26 the victim said when he returned home from work, he found the front door unlocked and several items missing from his apartment. The victim said his ex-girlfriend, who used to live with him, still visits occasionally. She has a key. A witness said a woman, fitting the description of the girlfriend, along with a man, took items from the apartment and put them in a SUV. The female said she was there but didn’t take anything other than her daughter’s laptop.
West Ferry Drive 30328 – On September 26 someone forcibly entered the victim’s home through a kitchen window. A laptop and silverware were taken. The burglar apparently exited through a basement door and dropped some of the silverware as he left.
Johnson Ferry Road 30328 – On September 26 a resident reported that around 4 p.m. someone came to the door and said he was with a tree service and was to cut down trees bordering her yard. He was very insistent on the victim and her husband walking with him to look at the area that he was going to cut. She and her husband walked outside and talked with the man for about 15 minutes. Later she found that several items had been stolen from their bedroom. The two male suspects were driving a pickup truck, Chevy, white in color. The truck had a paper tag on it.
8200 block of Colquitt Road 30350 – On September 27 the victim said that he walked to the store and upon returning home, found that his front door had been forced open and several items including two TVs were gone.
5800 block of Greenbrier Road 30328 – On September 28 the victim said someone came in through a basement window and took his wife’s jewelry, money, spare car and home keys, and a car title. A neighbor said he saw a car cruise by the victim’s home several times then park up the street. Two men got out and walked down the street and then between the victim’s home and another home. The car left soon after. Suspects’ vehicle: silver Lincoln Navigator with Georgia plates, tinted windows and 22- or 24-inch rims.
8700 block of Hope Mews Court 30350 – On September 28 the resident said that around 11 p.m. he and his wife were watching TV upstairs when he heard a noise downstairs. He went down and found an open window and his laptop missing. It appears the burglar entered the house through a second floor window that attached to the deck.
200 block of Franklin Road 30342 – On October 2 the victim said someone came into her apartment and took an Apple iPod Touch computer. The burglar came in by prying the sliding door.
10th block of Cedar Run 30350 – On October 2 the victim said while she was at church, someone entered her home through the front door. She is missing an Xbox 360 and laptop.
1000 block of Brentwood Way 30350 – On October 4 the victim said someone cut a screen and then entered in a window. The victim is missing $360 that was on his TV. The cash was for his rent.
900 block of Greyfield Lane 30350 – On October 4 a resident reported that someone entered the apartment by an unknown means. She is missing several items valued at about $1000.
600 block of Summit Place Drive 30350 – On October 4 the resident said someone rang her doorbell. She took a few minutes to answer it and when she did, she saw two men peering in her window, checking to see if it was unlocked. When they saw her, they fled.
1000 block of Brentwood Way 30350 – On October 4 the victim said he returned home and found that someone had broken in and had taken a computer. He was gone from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
1700 block Summit Place 30350 – On October 5 the complainant and family were in their apartment when they heard someone ring the doorbell. They did not answer. Shortly thereafter, someone kicked in a bedroom window. One family member yelled and the intruder fled.
200 block of Franklin Road 30342 – On October 9 the victim said someone came into his apartment through an unlocked window. He is missing a black laptop computer, valued at $729.
300 block of Summit Place Drive 30350 – On October 10 an apartment burglary was reported. Seems to be tied in with a neighbor dispute.
Theft
A man on Northway Drive said someone stole his guitar while he was out of town. He suspects his friend who had access to his residence while he was gone.
An employee of the Casa De Quesadilla said that she had to move her car and when she left the restaurant, the only customer inside got up and apparently tapped the till from the register and quickly sat down before anyone could catch him. He then asked an employee for a glass of water. When they left to retrieve it, he stuffed a laptop down his pants. He then left.
A woman on Calibre Springs Way said someone stole a spare muffler that fit her Honda S-2000. She suspects painters who were in the area.
An apartment complex employee at the Lakes at Northridge Apartments reported a vendor key was taken by a security officer, and although he was contacted and said he would return the key, he hasn’t.
A man reported that a Scotsman ice machine was stolen from the IBM office on Riveredge Parkway sometime between the end of July and the end of August, leading one to believe there was no great need for ice there based on the time frame it took to discover it missing.
1800 block of Jefferson Drive 30328 – On September 26 a woman reported someone took her Percocet medication from her medicine cabinet. She believes the maintenance crew took it.
Ga. 400 and Spalding Drive 30350 – On September 27 a patrol officer spotted a car on the side of the road. The back window looked smashed out. The car was checked and found to have been stolen out of Dunwoody on September 26.
4900 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On October 1 a woman said she was shopping at Kroger. She left her cart which contained her purse in the seat, also known as the traditional “steal me” position. Someone grabbed it. Within an hour, the thief tried to use the card for almost $1000 but the charge was denied because it appeared suspicious. Don’t leave the cart unattended and better yet, put your cards in your front pocket and don’t take the purse in at all.
A man on Windridge Drive reported on October 1 that his laptop was stolen while he was gone. When he left, a guy named Tony was at his apartment. When he came home, the computer and Tony were gone.
500 block of North River Parkway 30350 – On October 1 a cab driver said he picked up a fare in Augusta. The man gave him a debit card so the cabbie drove him to North River and took the payment, which amounted to $419, from the man on the card. When they arrived, the man bolted from the car and fled into the apartment complex. He left the card—which had his photo on it.
8600 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On October 3 the victim said someone stole his 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, black in color.
5900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On October 8 a woman said while she was shopping at Whole Foods on Roswell Road, someone, at some point, took her wallet from her purse that was in her shopping cart. She later found that someone charged over $300 at Macy’s and $1000 at Nordstrom’s on her credit card.
6100 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On October 9 cops were called to the “Smoke-911” business in regards to a theft. The complainant said a man went behind the counter and took several packages of reformulated bath salts and a couple of packages of Molly’s Plant Food. The complainant said the bath salts area often snorted by those who use them improperly and the plant food is often used as synthetic ecstasy.
5500 block of Glenridge Drive 30342 – On October 9 the victim said someone took a 1997 red and white Bobcat tractor and a gas welder from a building.
On October 10, a complainant at Northside Hospital reported that a laptop was stolen from the patient’s room.
Fraud
200 block of Sandy Springs Circle 30328 – On September 24 the victim said that at some point when he returned from a trip to the Roswell Road QT store, he must have lost his wallet. Someone apparently found the victim’s wallet because it appeared on his front doorstep the following morning. When the victim went to the ATM, he found that his balance was zero. Someone had used the card at the Kroger and then returned the wallet to the doorstep. The victim later found out that his upstairs neighbors at his apartment complex apparently took the wallet and used the ATM card. He said they were meth addicts.
1300 block of Summit Place 30350 – On September 24 an employee of Hong Kong City reported that he was given a counterfeit $50 bill for payment for takeout food.
Someone paid for items with two counterfeit Travelers Checks, for $100 each, at Trader Joe’s on Roswell Road.
6000 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On September 30 someone passed a counterfeit $20 bill at the Dunkin’ Donuts, most likely at the drive-through, according to the report.
900 block of Telfair Court 30350 – On October 3 a man said he purchased two tickets to the Fox Theater on “Mainline Tickets” in Illinois. He received them via FedEx but when he went to the show, the person scanning the tickets said they had already been scanned.
A man on Riverside Drive said someone used his personal information to apply for credit cards in his name. He reported that one purchase for just under $200 was made in Middleton, UK.
A woman in the 4700 block of Roswell Road reported that her boyfriend, and father of her kids, is stalking her. She has a TRO (temporary restraining order) prohibiting such stalking.
A woman on Marsh Glen Point reported on October 12 that she used her credit union debit card and it was declined. She contacted the bank and found that two charges were on the account that were not hers. The charges were done in Miami totaling just under $200.

Assault
A man on Northwood Drive said that on October 3, a 16-year-old was riding his bike inside the victim’s business. He told the boy to stop. The kid yelled “F—k you!” and then kicked the 74-year-old victim in the ribs, breaking two of them.
Arrests
4900 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On September 26 the staff at Kroger saw a man put $334 worth of beer, meat and bread into a shopping cart and then leave the store without paying. They were familiar with the man because he had done the same thing before. They phoned ahead and an officer was waiting on the man when he left the store. He was arrested.
A man walked into the QT gas station on Roswell Road, and while the clerks were tied up with several customers, grabbed four cartons of cigarettes and ran out. He ran south on Roswell Road to a bus stop at Morgan Falls Road—right next to SSPD Headquarters. Seconds later, cops were converging on this guy. He was arrested. He was also on probation for forgery.
I-285 & Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 – On October 4, Dunwoody and SSPD units were called about a man who was darting in and out of rush hour traffic around 4:30 p.m. The SSPD officer found the man sitting in an older pickup truck. The man saw the cop and then ran into traffic. He was holding a bamboo pole that 911 callers thought was a spear. The officers chased him across the eastbound lanes and part of the westbound lanes until they caught him. During the struggle, one of the officers “deployed” his Taser. Well, the “deployment” didn’t do much good and the fight continued. The SSPD officer was bitten by the suspect before he was cuffed. He was seen and released at the hospital. Dunwoody took custody of the suspect. He was high on drugs. He is also wanted on a Sandy Springs forgery. He was admitted to Grady Hospital for drug consumption.
Officers received a call in the 500 block of Abernathy Road in reference to a person in a car who had pointed a gun at several people in the parking lot. The officers located a car that matched the description. The officers found a BB gun that most likely was the gun used. They also found some marijuana on the four occupants. They were all arrested.
700 block of Mt. Paran Road 30342 – On October 11 cops received a call of a suspicious person on Mt. Paran and Jett roads. They found and spoke to a man who said he was just looking for directions. At the same time, a call was dispatched of a suspicious woman in the same general area. The officers asked the man if he knew what was going on and he replied that he did not but then changed his story, saying that he picked up the woman at the Cocktail Cove Bar and drove her around before pulling over. He said he got out of the car and ran from her but didn’t explain why. The man’s car was located in front of a home in the 4600 block of Jett Road. It was impounded as a street hazard and the man was cited and taken to Roswell Road to call someone to pick him up. They confirmed that a female was in the area but the report didn’t elaborate.
A man was arrested at Publix in the 8700 block of Roswell Road on October 11 just after 1 p.m. He was at the service desk, presenting a fraudulent check for $294 that he wanted to cash. The check was from an equipment company in South Carolina. The clerk said the fonts were different and it didn’t look right, so she verified it and found it to be fraudulent. The man was still there when the cops arrived. He was arrested and charged with forgery of the check.
8800 block of Roswell Road 30350 – On October 12 cops were called to Kroger in regards to someone stealing a bottle of Inglenook Chardonnay, valued at just under $9. The man was located and arrested.
1100 block of Mt. Vernon Highway 30328 – On October 12 one man was arrested near the Babies “R” Us store after he was reported to have been exposing himself. Officers arrived and determined that the man had urinated in a public outside area, on the sidewalk near the business. He was located and later arrested for public indecency and public urination.
6600 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On October 12 police responded to Publix in regards to a man attempting to process a fraudulent prescription. The man had written a prescription for Xanax, and a quantity of 90. The pharmacist knew that the dosage was way over what a doctor would prescribe. The man was arrested.
6300 block of Powers Ferry Road 30328 – On October 12 a woman was arrested for prostitution.
Other Things
900 block of Monterrey Parkway 30350 – On September 24 a woman reported that around midnight, she noticed two men walking away from an apartment patio area. Several minutes later, the patio was on fire. The responding officer used his fire extinguisher and put the fire out before it could get well involved.
Cops responded to the Verizon store on Roswell Road and met with employees regarding a woman who became upset and began throwing display phones and such on the floor of the store. The woman became agitated with staff members who were assisting other customers. The woman, who was a previous customer, was identified by her sales record on the computer. A warrant will be issued for criminal trespass.
A man called and reported that another man has been texting him in a harassing way. The victim said his wife left him for the other man. Lately the other man has been sending him threatening text messages. The victim said the other man is known to be violent and has even pulled a gun on his girlfriend, the victim’s ex-wife. He said the man is capable of violent acts.
A woman in the 6200 block of Roswell Road reported that she dated a man twice but then told him she wasn’t interested in him and didn’t want to go out anymore. The man began calling her demanding to be paid back for the money he spent on the dates. If not, things would get “ugly.” He said she owes him $80.
On September 29 a woman said she was driving on Ga. 400 between Abernathy and Northridge roads when a man, in a black Acura SUV, pulled alongside and pointed a gun at her. She did get the tag number and the case is being investigated. She told the officer she doesn’t know why he was provoked.
On October 5, officers were called to an apartment in the 4700 block of Roswell Road around 5 p.m. They determined that a group of friends conducted an intervention on a man who was using drugs. After an hour, the target of the intervention became angry and walked out of the room. Another man followed him and an argument ensued. The man wanted to leave the apartment, saying that he was being cornered in by the group. They did not want him to leave and prohibited him from doing so. His roommate called the cops. The officers told the intervention group to leave, which they did.
A woman reported that her former employer has been making unwanted advances toward her by sending inappropriate text messages, making Facebook contact, and showing up with candy and flowers.
A woman called and said that a man she knows came to her apartment and she let him take cash from her purse. The man later called and told her to get more cash. She said he called again and threatened her if she didn’t get more cash. The report said the victim doesn’t care about the suspect taking more cash from her but wants him to stop calling.
An employee of an adult entertainment club said he fired an employee and now is being harassed by the employee via Facebook.
