The City of Sandy Springs announced Nov. 1 it has hired a a former Fulton County public works director as its new Community Development Director.
According to the city, Angela Parker will oversee the city’s planning, redevelopment, building, environmental and code enforcement for the city. Parker has 28 years experience and spent the bulk of her time with Fulton County. Her posts in Fulton County include deputy director for the Department of Planning and Economic Development, and most recently director of of the Department of Public Works, the city said. According to the city, Parker holds a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia. She is a past board member of the Atlanta Tree Preservation Review Board, and is a graduate of Leadership North Fulton.
In a separate announcement, the city said the Community Development Department has extended its deadline for next-day inspections required for permits from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
The city said there are two methods to schedule an inspection:
• By phone at 770-730-5600. Requests made by 2 p.m. on any business day will receive an inspection on the next business day.
• By website at http://www.sandyspringsga.org/City-Departments/Community-Development/Request-an-Inspection. Requests made by 2 p.m. on any business day will receive an inspection on the next business day.
Permit application forms and fee schedules are available online at www.sandyspringsga.gov under the Community Development Department, the city said.
