The Sandy Springs Police Department on Nov. 9 announced its Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T) grant had been renewed by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety through Sept. 30, 2012.

The grant renewal totals $95,400 and has been awarded to the Sandy Springs Police Department since its inception in 2006.

Sandy Springs uses the grant to “develop and implement strategies to reduce local highway crashes, injuries, and fatalities,” according to the city’s website.

It uses the grant to operate three patrol cars and other in-car equipment, according to a press release.
