Jury selection is underway for the murder trial of Hemy Neuman.
Attorneys began questioning potential jurors Feb. 13 and are expected to spend the next week selecting the 12 people who will serve in the jury.
Judge Gregory A. Adams said opening statements are scheduled to begin Feb. 21.
Neuman has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the Nov. 2010 killing of Rusty Sneiderman, a Dunwoody businessman who was shot after dropping off his young son at a day care center.
Three members of Neuman’s family and seven of Sneiderman’s relatives, including his widow, Andrea, were present in the courtroom at 9 a.m. for the beginning of jury selection.
Adams asked reporters and several family members to leave to allow 50 jurors to fill the benches of the courtroom for general questioning. Adams allowed them to return after approximately one hour to listen to attorneys question the potential jurors individually.
