The following incidents and arrests are some but not all of the reports filed with SSPD over the listed period, dated through Feb. 8.

The following information was provided by the Sandy Springs Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Burglary

6800 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road 30328 On Feb. 5, a woman left her apartment at noon and just before 3 p.m., she returned home and found that someone had broken the front door leading into the apartment. Her computer and flat-screen TV are gone.

 NOTE: Should you come home and find the front door broken open or see other signs of what appears to be evidence that someone came into the home, don’t go in. Call the cops. Burglars are normally idiots who just want your stuff,  but you don’t want to confront one if you can avoid it.

4500 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On Feb. 6, a woman said she was in her bedroom just after 12 p.m. and heard a loud noise in her living room. She walked out and found that someone had just run out of her back door. The sliding-glass door was open, as were the blinds. A witness said he saw a man walking from the open door and in the direction of the nearby Rite-Aid store. The suspect unhooked the woman’s Xbox game system which was found by the door, discarded when she entered the room.

1600 block of Windridge Drive 30350 – On Feb. 6, the resident said when he returned home he discovered his apartment had been entered. Several items, including his rent money, were taken.

1400 block of Woodcliff Drive 30328 – On Feb. 6, the resident said someone pried open the front door and took a TV, monitor, laptop, aluminum cases and a shotgun.

1500 block of Harbor Pointe Parkway 30350 – On Feb. 7, the victim told officers that he met a man and let him stay at his residence. Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., the man stole the victim’s TV and laptop, and then left.

7000 block of Roswell Road 30328 – The resident returned home on Feb. 8 and found his front door was not secured or locked. He saw that his rear patio door was open and someone had taken his TV, Xbox, diamond engagement ring and several watches.

Theft

Marsh Trail 30350 – On Feb. 3 a man said he ordered a computer from HP and records show that FedEx delivered the laptop to the leasing office’s mailroom—which all residents have access to. It was stolen.

3700 block of Spring Creek Lane 30350 – On Feb. 5 a Toyota Corolla was reported stolen.

5000 block of Gables Lane 30328 – On Feb. 5 a GT bike was reported stolen.

Starlight Drive — A woman said that two men installed a mattress in her bedroom. She said that while she signed the paperwork, one of the men distracted her. She later found that her $2,000 wedding band had been taken from the dresser.

300 block of Legran Bend 30328 – On Feb. 6, an iPhone was reported stolen.

2000 block of Dunwoody Club Drive 30350 – On Feb. 6, cops were called to a grocery store to meet a woman who said her iPhone and $199 were stolen. She did not know the circumstances but activated the GPS showing the phone was on Hillandale Drive in Doraville.

6300 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On Feb. 7, a store employee said a man removed a laptop from a display area and then left the store.

800 block of Mt. Vernon Highway 30328 – On Feb. 7, a man said he was taking a smoke break in the garage area of the above address. He left his iPad accidentally and when he went back for it, found that it had been taken.

1600 block of River Edge Parkway 30328 – On Feb. 7, the owner of a café was told by his accountant that there were some accounting irregularities. He found that the cash deposits for the business were stolen by an employee. The man confessed to the owner and said he had family problems. He paid back $3,000 of the $10,000 he took over a period of time. The suspect is the manager of the café. He was also wanted in Bartow County on a probation violation.

The executive chef at a hospital reported that someone entered his office and took his laptop.

Fraud

Spring Creek Lane 30350 – A man reported that on Feb. 5 while checking his bank account, he found a $150 transaction at the Ramada Inn in Virginia. He also learned that persons unknown have tried to forward financial mail to another address.

A woman said someone opened three accounts in her name using her Walmart money card Visa. The accounts were opened in Maryland. She closed them.

Assault

On Feb. 3, a woman said her boyfriend got into an argument with her, grabbed her, grabbed $300 cash and her cellphone and then left. She asked the officer to check her residence to make sure the suspect was gone. He was gone. The officer found some pot on the bedside end table. She said she smokes it.  She then said the suspect sells cocaine and she often accompanies him to make the sale. She was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Northwood Drive 30342 – On Feb. 3, a woman said an acquaintance, not her boyfriend, grabbed her on her neck during an argument. She said that he stays at her apartment, along with several others, from time to time.

6900 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On Feb. 5, a man said he took a cab from Buckhead to Sandy Springs just before 3 a.m. and paid the driver $19 although the cabbie wanted $21. He told the cabbie he was sorry but had no more money. The cabbie punched him in the nose twice.

100 block of Northwood Drive 30342 – On Feb. 5, a woman said her husband got “real” mad and punched her in the face in front of two children. The suspect was arrested.

400 block of Trowbridge Lane — Cops were called on Feb. 6 just before 3 p.m. They found that the complainant and his father got into an argument over the price of a television. The father threw a can of tea at the complainant/victim. The victim threw a glass of milk at his father. His father upgraded to a bread knife and charged the victim who retreated to the den and grabbed a glass vase as a shield. The father cut the victim on the forearm. The victim hit his father on the nose, causing a cut. The offender tells the exact story—only opposite. The father/offender was treated at the hospital and then taken to jail.

4700 block of Roswell Road 30342 – On Feb. 8, officers were called to an apartment complex after a fight was reported. A woman told officers that she was assaulted by an acquaintance of hers who had just left. She said the man was a friend whom she had gone out with a couple of times. She only knows him by his nickname “Fathead” or “D.” She said “Fathead” knocked on the door and demanded to know why the victim had not returned his calls. He then tried to push his way into the doorway. The witness, who was in the room, helped the victim try and push “Fathead” out of the door. Both women were punched and kicked. “Fathead” then walked toward the parking lot. The women’s injuries were minor.

Arrests

6200 block of Roswell Road 30328 – On Feb. 3, cops received a call of a disorderly person panhandling from customers at a bakery. The complainant said the man unloaded a bunch of profanities at the complainant (employee) in front of customers, who themselves were complaining about the man. The man left but the officers located him near the FedEx store on Sandy Springs Circle. He had three watches in his pocket, still in the box. Turns out he stole them from the nearby CVS. He was arrested.

A cabbie called the cops on Feb. 5 after a man he ferried from Buckhead smashed the passenger side mirror in what can only be called a drunken episode of disgusting behavior. Several people in the drunken group were loud and insulting to the driver. As they left, one threw a bottle at him but missed. The cops went to the address on Franklin Road and the driver identified the man who broke his mirror. The suspect was then charged with damaging the property and arrested.

6700 block of Powers Ferry Road — Officers were called to deal with a disorderly person. They found a man who had to be carried out of the house because he was yelling incoherently and running around in the apartment clubhouse. The man had apparently taken a drug and had been drinking and it is believed that the reaction caused him to lose control. He was cited and taken to the hospital.

Other Stuff

A woman said she allowed her ex-husband to use her car while she was out of town. Her husband told her later that he loaned it out and the man who borrowed it won’t give it back. She talked to the man who still refuses to return the car.

A man said he received a call on his cellphone. The caller said: “Bang, bang, you’re dead.”  The victim said he recently fired a 45-year-old man who lives in Tennessee.

A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend will not stop texting and calling her. She ended the relationship two years ago. He texted her 20 times, emailed her 11, called and left messages six times.

I-285/Glenridge Drive 30342 – On Feb. 3, a man became impatient while watching cars use the emergency lane during rush hour traffic. He decided to block the lane so that no other cars could use it. This resulted in a minor impact from a car using the emergency lane illegally. The two drivers got out of their cars, had an argument, and at one point a man grabbed the cellphone from the man who blocked the lane, and threw it in the woods. Both men were charged with disorderly conduct.
