From police reports dated through April 7.

The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Assault

1600 block of Piedmont Avenue, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on March 25. A man (#1) said another man began hitting him and he defended himself. The other man bit him, then held a butcher knife to his throat and cut him on the left side of the neck. The other man reported man #1 lunged toward him, so he grabbed the knife to defend himself. 2000 block of Bolton Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on March 26. A man said he got into an argument with his girlfriend and as he was leaving she threw a picture frame at him, striking him in the back of the head. He had a large welt on his head.

Vivian Lane, NE – An aggravated assault at a residence was reported on March 26.  A woman said her boyfriend hit her on her head, face and arms repeatedly, then picked up a knife and pointed it toward her. The man was on the scene when an officer arrived. The man was taken into custody. The domestic violence unit was notified.

2000 block of Hollywood Road, NW – An aggravated assault at a residence was reported on March 27. A man was in an argument with his girlfriend during which she grabbed a knife and stabbed him. He was transported to the hospital. She fled, and later called the investigator to tell him that she did stab the man, but out of self defense.

2000 block of Hollywood Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on March 30. Two women got into an altercation about the rent.  One woman left the scene and returned with an unidentified suspect who shot a man at the scene in the leg. The unidentified suspect threatened to kill if he was described to police.

2800 block of Burden Street, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on April 5. A woman said she had been having an affair with a man for two years and has been attempting to end it. She said the man blackmailed her and threatened to tell her husband.  She said the man began hitting her in the face and arms, and pinching her thigh really hard, leaving visible bruises, when she told him she was not going to leave her husband.  She traveled with the suspect and his wife to N.C., and when she returned she told her husband of the incident, who then took her to the hospital.

2300 block of Bolton Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on April 6.  A man said he was beaten with a metal pipe over a money dispute. The suspect got out of a vehicle and produced the metal pipe and beat the victim about the body. The suspect fled in the vehicle.

3200 block of Roswell Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on April 6.  A woman said she and her boyfriend got into an argument. They both had been drinking at a bar. When she tried to get her keys from him, he became enraged and punched her in the face with a closed fist. The impact of the punch caused her lower left tooth to fall out. The man had gone by the time police arrived.

2400 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on April 6. An officer was dispatched on a domestic dispute. When he arrived, he saw a woman covered in blood. She said she attacked a man after a dispute. The officer saw a cut to the man’s hand which appeared to have been made with a knife. The man said the woman attacked him after she saw texts and pictures on his phone suggesting cheating.  The woman was transported to jail.

1900 block of Piedmont Circle, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on April 6. A woman was involved in a physical dispute with a man because he thought she was cheating on him. She said the two made up after the physical altercation and smoked methamphetamines.  A nurse at Northside Hospital called police.  An officer responded to the hospital and spoke to the woman, who was receiving treatment for her injuries.  She had visible injuries on her neck, head, arms, legs and feet.  She identified the suspect’s photograph.  She physically appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.  An arrest warrant for the suspect was obtained.  No one witnessed the dispute.

Robbery      

2600 block of Peachtree Park Drive, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on March 30. A man said he was getting his mail when a man approached him from behind and put a handgun up to his head. The man demanded his wallet, which the victim did not have on him. The suspect took a box of cigarettes and the man’s work bag. The victim screamed for help, then the suspect fired a shot in his direction and fled the scene in a white vehicle. A witness heard the shot and saw a man running away from the mail box area.

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on April 5. A man said he hit a curb with his vehicle. He got out to check his tires and then he felt what he thought was a gun on his neck. The suspect ordered him to give up everything.  He gave his wallet and cellphone to the suspect. The wallet contained $100.

Burglary

3100 block of Marne Drive, NE – A residential burglary was reported on March 25. A man said he was going to walk his dog with his family. He saw a suspicious man next door but he didn’t think anything and went for the walk. He said his daughter went back home and was there during the time of the burglary, but didn’t hear or see anything.

3500 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A commercial burglary was reported on March 25. A woman said when she arrived at work, she discovered that someone had opened the cooler and damaged the pastries that were wrapped up. The cash register was also damaged and it could not be opened.

900 block of E. Paces Ferry Road, NE – A burglary was reported on March 26. Unidentified suspect(s) entered the storage unit belonging to a woman, taking two mountain bikes and a piece of scuba equipment.

Larceny

1000 block of Peachtree Street, NE – A larceny from a nightclub was reported on March 25. A woman said she was at a club and took pictures with a few guys. When she got back her hotel she received a text from a suspect stating he had her SIM card with the photos on it.

2900 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on March 26. A woman said someone stole her debit card from her wallet, which was left unsecured in her place of employment. After obtaining information from her bank, she went to a grocery store where the card was used and saw via surveillance her co-worker using her debit card. CID was notified and warrants were issued. The victim called when the suspect came to work and CID made an arrest.

2900 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from a business was reported on March 28. The suspect was awarding customers points to redeem for a free car wash and other valued services in exchange for tips. The total amount was $2,000.

1200 block of Huff Road, NW – A larceny from a business was reported on March 29. The reporting party said an internal investigation revealed that over four months an employee stole approximately $11,000 and altered claims reports to cover the theft. The employee signed a statement admitting the theft.

2800 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on March 30.             An employee reported three men stole his tip jar when he was in the rear of the business.

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a discount store was reported on March 30.             A woman was seen by store security concealing items inside a bag as her two children looked on. She passed all points of sale and attempted to leave the store without paying. She left the store when security officers were completing paperwork, leaving her children unattended. She did return and was taken into custody. The children were released to the suspect’s grandmother.

3000 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a residence was reported on March 31. A man said he was out of town for four days and returned to find the locks on his front door were changed, and $700 and a camera were stolen.

Peachtree/ Stratford Roads, NE – A larceny from a business was reported on March 31.                A woman said two young men approached her and asked for money to help their sports team get to Washington, D.C. When she told them she didn’t have any money, one man snatched her iPad from the table and took off running toward the MARTA station.

3100 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from a residence was reported on April 1. A woman said she believes her former housekeeper removed a set of luggage, a purse and a 12-person set of silverware from her residence without her permission. The suspect disconnected her telephone, so the victim has been unable to contact her.

1900 block of Piedmont Circle, NE – A larceny from a hotel was reported on April 2. A man said $280 fell out of his pocket when he tried to enter his hotel room and a woman put her foot on the money so he couldn’t pick it up. He said he has medical issues and was having trouble breathing and was unable to speak to the woman. Without saying anything or touching him she simply picked up his money and walked away with it.

3300 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from a grocery store was reported on April 3. A store security guard said he saw a man trying to conceal two racks of lamb inside a shopping bag and attempting to leave without paying. The man was arrested and issued a criminal trespass document stating he could never return to the store.

3200 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a hotel was reported on April 4. A man said he was walking on Peachtree Road when a suspect stopped beside him and offered him a ride. The suspect showed him a badge and claimed to be a police officer. He accepted the ride. The suspect asked him to contribute $5 toward gas and charged him $20 for a ride to Marietta. As they approached a hotel, the suspect then offered a ride to another man and also charged him $20. The suspect then asked the victim to buy him a drink from the hotel. When he returned with the drink he saw the suspect and the other passenger in an argument. The suspect drove away after pushing the victim out. The victim’s bag and his personal items were still in the suspect’s vehicle when he drove away.

600 block of Lindberg Drive, NE – A larceny from a business was reported on April 6. The reporting person said someone came to the gas station and stole 138 lottery tickets totaling $316.         He said he left the counter door unlocked while he was in the bathroom or away from the counter at some point.

Larceny from Auto

1400 block of Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on March 26. A man said he left his .40-caliber Glock in his glove box and let his girlfriend drive his car. When she returned to pick him up it was missing. She stated, “He shouldn’t have left it in the glove box.”

1900 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on March 29.  A woman left her purse in her vehicle with the window rolled down. A suspect in a black SUV with a Florida tag reached in, took the purse and drove off.  She said they drove at her.

2500 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on March 29. A woman said she had a flat tire and a man stopped to help her, after which she noticed that her purse was missing from the passenger seat.

Auto Theft

2000 block of Peachtree Road, NE – An auto theft was reported on March 26. A man said that his vehicle was stolen from the parking lot while he was inside an apartment working. He left his keys in the door of the apartment and believes someone took the keys, including his vehicle key, from the door.

3000 block of Piedmont Road, NE – An auto theft was reported on March 30. The manager of a rental car agency said a vehicle was supposed to be returned on March 13. The manager contacted the person who rented the vehicle and she told him she gave the car to a friend to borrow. The person who rented the vehicle does not know where it is.

2400 block of Morosgo Court, NE – An auto theft was reported on March 30. A man said he went inside a business to grab a bottle of water and when he came back out his truck was gone. The vehicle was left running with the keys inside.
