The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.
Assault
2300 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on May 6. A restaurant employee said he asked the arrestee to leave, and the arrestee threatened to cut his head off and kill him while brandishing a pocket knife. Responding officers located the arrestee in the area and a witness who positively identified the arrestee. The knife was recovered and submitted as evidence.
3000 block of Pharr Court, NE – An aggravated assault at a construction site was reported on May 9. A man said another man pulled a box cutter out of his pocket with the blade exposed and threatened to do harm to him. The victim was working at a construction site stopping traffic when the suspect tried to enter the site. The suspect was hired by a homeowner to perform some work at the location.
600 block of Garson Drive, NE – An aggravated assault at an apartment was reported on May 9. Two men were involved in a verbal and physical altercation. One sustained injuries to the arm and complained of shoulder pain.
2700 block of Defoors Ferry Road, NW – An aggravated assault at an apartment was reported on May 11. A man said his brother (the arrestee) stabbed him in the mouth with a pair of scissors; the responding officer saw an injury to the victim.
2400 block of Bolton Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on May 11. A man said he was at his storage unit when he saw a pickup truck backing up toward him. He shouted for the vehicle to stop but the vehicle struck him. He fell to the ground. He had fresh bruises on the forearm. He was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The vehicle left.
700 block of Sidney Marcus Boulevard, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on May 13. A man shot the victim’s vehicle’s tire with a handgun. The man said that the victim took money from him. He said he was going to buy an iPad from the victim for “cheap.” When the man could not locate the person with his money he attempted to stand in front of the victim’s vehicle and that is when he shot the victim’s tire.
2700 block of Lenox Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on May 14. A boyfriend and girlfriend were in a verbal dispute over money that turned physical. The woman threw shoes and a crutch at the man. No arrests were made.
1100 block of Old Chattahoochee Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on May 16. A man said an unidentified co-worker uttered profane language and charged him with a butter knife. No injuries were reported.
2700 block of Pine Tree Road, NE – An aggravated assault at an apartment was reported on May 17. A man and woman had a verbal altercation. The man then escalated it to a physical fight. He choked, struck in the head, slapped in the face, and struck the woman several times with a boot.
Robbery
3400 block of Lakeside Drive, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on May 6. Three unidentified suspects threw a woman to the ground and took her keys, car and purse.
1600 block of Defoors Walk, NW –A robbery of a pedestrian was reported on May 8. A man said a woman he bought a car from set him up with a man selling computers. Upon meeting the man, he went with the suspect and was robbed at gunpoint by him and another man. He had $1,300 in cash taken from him.
2200 block of Bolton Road, NW – A residential robbery was reported on May 9. Two men demanded money from the victims. One suspect stole $35 and a cellphone.
3200 block of Lenox Road, NE – A robbery of a pedestrian was reported on May 9. Three unidentified suspects approached a man. One suspect, with a handgun, hit the man in the neck and back, demanding money. They took his cellphone and wallet.
1300 block of Elaine Avenue, NW – A robbery was reported on the morning of May 10. The victims were leaving a nightclub when they saw two unknown men near their vehicles. A suspect brandished a 9mm handgun and told the victims to get on the ground. The suspect gathered all the handbags. The suspects then left the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.
1200 block of Chattahoochee Avenue, NW – A commercial robbery was reported on May 16. The suspects entered the bank wearing hoodies and masks, demanding money from the tellers. The suspects then fled the scene on foot and were eventually captured by Zone 2 officers with the money in their possession. The money was returned and the suspects charged.
2400 block of Coronet Way, NW – A pedestrian robbery was reported on May 16. Five unidentified suspects beat and robbed the victim taking a cellphone, keys and a wallet. The victim complained of pain to the left side of the facial area.
2200 block of Peachtree Road, NW – A robbery at a restaurant was reported on May 17. Two suspects approached the victims who were sitting in the patio area. One suspect pointed a silver gun at the victims and demanded “give it up.” The victims gave their possessions to the suspects, who then fled in a black compact car driven by a third suspect.
2900 block of Fulton Drive, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on May 19. A woman was approached by four men as she got out of her vehicle. One of the men grabbed her purse, grocery bag and her diaper bag. They fled the scene in a blue Toyota RAV. The woman’s phone was tracked to Zone 6 and East Point.
Burglary
1600 block of Piedmont Avenue, NE – A commercial burglary was reported on May 7. An officer responded to a restaurant on an alarm call to discover a front window open. The key holder arrived on the scene and it was discovered that the office door had been pried open and $6,480 was taken.
1600 block of W. Wesley Road, NW –A residential burglary as reported on May 7. A man said his daughter stole items from his home and bought drugs with her earnings. He wants to press charges.
1900 block of LaDawn Lane, NW – A residential burglary at an apartment complex was reported on May 7. While responding to an audible alarm call, officers saw a broken window and holes in the walls between several units. They discovered the arrestee smashing into the walls to remove copper piping. The arrestee broke into five apartments and damaged the walls.
3600 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A burglary at an apartment was reported on May 7. Unidentified suspects entered a man’s home. They took his flat screen TV and spray painted threats on his mirror.
2700 block of Defoors Ferry Road, NW – A residential burglary was reported on May 12. A woman’s front door was kicked in but nothing was taken belonging to her. She believes the suspect to be her nephew, whom she kicked out a week ago, because only his clothing was missing.
1600 block of Piedmont Avenue, NE – A residential burglary was reported on May 14. An apartment was burglarized while both victims were asleep in their beds. The victims suspect a “homeless friend” who has bragged to them before about breaking into homes while residents were asleep. The suspect goes by the name of “Steve Jones.”
Larceny
1000 block of Huff Road, NW – A larceny from a business was reported on May 6. A security guard said he heard a noise and went outside to see what it was. He noticed a green Georgia Power Co. box cut. Copper was taken. A power shed with a chain on it was also cut and the motion camera along with copper wire had been taken out of it. There were no suspects. An officer from the previous watch recorded a nearby incident a few hours earlier.
2100 block of Defoor Hills Road, NW – A larceny from a business was reported on May 7. The victim said the suspects had $6,394 worth of interior work done to a 1974 Pontiac Grand Ville and they removed the vehicle without paying for the work.
3400 block of Buckhead Loop, NE – A larceny was reported on May 7. The victim was pickpocketed while at the store, and several items including a wallet and diamond stud earrings were taken.
1700 block of Northside Drive, NW – A larceny from a hotel was reported on May 9. A woman said she was arrested and her dog was left in her hotel room. When she returned to her room the dog was missing, and the last person to have access to the room was another woman.
2000 block of Howell Mill Road, NW –A larceny from a discount store was reported on May 10. The suspect entered the store, concealed items and attempted to leave. Security stopped the suspect, retrieved the stolen property, and held the suspect. After waiting for a period, the security officer released the suspect because he was tired of waiting for police. Upon the officer’s arrival, the security officer demanded a report.
1700 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny was reported on May 11. The suspect stole cash from the victim in a parking lot. They exchanged cash and the suspect ran away; the victim was actually left with pieces of newspaper, not cash.
2800 block of North Fulton Drive, NW – A larceny at a school was reported on May 11. The suspect ran into the ticket booth and snatched the money box from the ticket people, then ran and got into a vehicle. The vehicle was followed and stopped by Zone 2 and the suspect arrested. The money was returned.
3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny was reported during the evening of May 11. A woman said her wallet was stolen from her table at a theater while she was sitting watching a movie. Her credit cards were subsequently used to make fraudulent purchases.
2600 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny was reported on May 14. A man went inside a restaurant for lunch and left his 21-speed bicycle outside unsecured. When he returned he saw his bike was missing. A witness said a homeless guy rode off on the bike.
1800 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny was reported on May 19. The victim dropped a wallet by accident. The victim retraced steps and couldn’t find it. Reviewed store video and shows footage of a man picking up the wallet and walking away with it.
Larceny from Auto
1700 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on May 9. A man said he brought his vehicle in for new tires and he left $640 in cash in the center console. When he went back to his vehicle to pay for the services he discovered that $120 was missing.
300 block of Deering Road, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on May 10. The husband of the victim said his wife noticed that the sunroof for her vehicle was gone. The vehicle had been driven to several different places and he is not sure where the theft occurred.
2800 block of Fabin Street, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on May 16. A man said he parked his vehicle on the street next to his home overnight. The following morning he discovered his dog playing with a gun holster belonging to his wife. He saw that his truck had been entered and a .38 caliber handgun and GPS was taken. No signs of forced entry to the vehicle.
Auto Theft
700 block of Sidney Marcus Boulevard, NE – An auto theft was reported on May 9. A man said he was dropping a friend off and running into the gas station to buy a lottery ticket. He left his keys in the car and left the vehicle running. Upon coming out of the store, he discovered that his vehicle was gone.
1300 block of Reitveld Row, NW – An auto theft was reported on May 16. A man said he met the suspects to show them a car he was selling in Auto Trader. He gave the keys to one man to allow him to test drive the vehicle. About 20 minutes later, the man had not returned with the vehicle. The victim drove around and tried to locate his vehicle but could not.
