Sandy Springs Assistant City Manager Eden Freeman has been elected as the Southern region representative on the National Criminal Justice Association board of directors, the city announced.
The Washington, D.C.-based group represents state, local and tribal governments on issues related to crime control and crime prevention, according to the group’s website.
In a press release, Freeman said, ““It is a tremendous honor to have been elected to the NCJA Board, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members, staff and professionals from around the country as we address the many challenges facing the criminal justice system.”
Freeman has a background in the criminal justice field. Before joining the city, she worked for the Administrative Office of the Courts of Georgia. She also worked in Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
“She is widely recognized as the ‘creator’ of the Georgia Sexually Violent Offender Registry,” the city’s press release says.
