A local planning advisory board is pulling up stakes and moving to a temporary location until its permanent home is ready.
Buckhead’s Neighborhood Planning Unit B, chaired by Sally Silver, will leave its current meeting location at the Cathedral of Christ the King and move to the Cathedral of St. Philip located at 2744 Peachtreee Road.
The first meeting at the new location will be Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. NPU-B’s full board generally meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month and its zoning committee meets at 7 p.m. on the last Tuesday of each month.
Silver said the Cathedral of Christ the King needed the additional room typically occupied by the NPU-B meetings. The meetings are known to draw more than 100 people at times to hear the board weigh in on zoning issues before they are approved by the city of Atlanta.
Silver said the NPU-B will meet at Cathedral of St. Philip until November when the meetings will move permanently to 3109 Piedmont Estate and Gardens, otherwise known as the Estate. The venue is currently being renovated by The Legendary Event catering company, owned by Tony Conway.
Conway has agreed to allow the NPU to meet there, Silver said, calling Conway, “Incredibly generous and awesome.”
“He is such a fabulous person,” she said.
