Two people are in custody, and police are actively searching for a third after shots were fired inside Piedmont Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers were at the park within two minutes after receiving calls of shots being fired just before 3:30 p.m.
Channel 2’s Courtney Francisco was at the park as Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum confirmed that no one was injured.
One of the officers responding encountered one suspect trying to change his clothes.
Schierbaum said a 29-year-old and a 21-year-old are in custody, but neither’s identity has been released.
He said they are searching for a third suspect, but know who that person is.
Police have recovered a rifle and pistol, but are searching the park for another gun.
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra announced it would proceed as planned with its annual free concert tonight, starting at 7:30 p.m. Schierbaum said visitors would see an increased police presence in the park during the event.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
