The Governor’s Commission on Brookhaven announced it will officially release requests for bids for city services on Oct. 27.

At the commission’s Oct. 25 meeting, JD Clockadale, the co-chair of the contracts and proposals committee, said the group would be ready to post the requests for proposals, known as RFPs, on Oct. 27. Vendors will have until Nov. 23 to return bids.

Like other newly created cities, Brookhaven is looking to contract with private sector vendors to provide most of its city services.

Clockadale said the committee is discussing measures to make sure that the RFP process secure and fair. For example, Clockadale said two members of the governor’s commission will be at the P.O. Box all day Nov. 23 to ensure receipt of the bids.

“We’re not just taking RFPs in a mailbox,” Clockadale said. “We’re actually going to man that all day.”
