The DeKalb County Board of Education has called a meeting for Friday, Feb. 8, to consider a separation agreement for Superintendent Cheryl Atkinson.
According to documents posted on the board website, if the board approves the agreement Atkinson will receive a $114,583 buyout. The board hired Atkinson in August 2011, but her time with the school system was tumultuous.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in December placed the system on accredited probation and parents have signed a petition asking for the current school board to be removed.
