Brookhaven is looking for feedback on garbage collection.

The city has posted a survey to its website to gauge residents’ opinions on proposed changes to DeKalb County’s sanitation services.

Currently, DeKalb County’s provides twice weekly garbage pickup and recycling and yard debris pickup once a week for an annual fee of $265, according to the city’s website.

DeKalb is considering whether to reduce services or increase the annual charges for its sanitation services.

To keep the current schedule, the annual fee would increase to $305. The county may also keep the cost at $265 but reduce household garbage pick-up to once per week, according to Brookhaven’s website.

At a recent City Council meeting, Mayor J. Max Davis said city officials would like to hear what residents want before making any decisions about garbage service.

“We want to make sure we make an informed decision based on how our residents feel about it,” Davis said.
