City officials have announced that the Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945 exhibit will remain in Sandy Springs for another three years.
City spokeswoman Sharon Kraun said when the exhibit opened in Sandy Springs in 2010, it was a three year commitment. The city will celebrate the renewal at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at the exhibit, which is located at Parkside Shopping Center, 5920 Roswell Road – Suite 209 Sandy Springs, Ga. 30328.
“The exhibit contains more than 600 photos and more which tell the story of Frank, from her days of freedom in the 1930s to hiding with her family and later her death in 1945 in the Bergen-Belson concentration camp,” Kraun said. “New pieces will be on display. Mayor Eva Galambos, whose family escaped Nazi Germany in 1933, will participate in the event activities.”
In a statement, Galambos said the exhibit has been a hit with visitors.
“The city of Sandy Springs is fortunate to have one of the most important and largest Anne Frank collections in the nation,” Galambos’ statement says. “Since its opening in 2010, the exhibit has educated visitors from 27 states and a number of foreign countries. I am honored that the city will continue to serve as home to this important exhibit.”
