The 4th Annual Collards Cook-Off will take place 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at the East Lake Farmers Market (ELF), located at 2nd Avenue & Hosea L. Williams Drive in the East Lake community.

Judges for this year’s event include City of Atlanta Councilmember Natalyn Archibong,  Chef Michael Deihl from East Lake Golf Club, and Chef Andy Gonzales at Steinbecks Ale House.

ELF Market founder Doug Williams said it’s exciting to see the different ways people prepare this classically southern dish. “Collards are such a strong tradition for families, but our traditions can be really different,” Williams said.

The competition looks strong, with returning winners No.246 restaurant, and Bone Lick BBQ returning along with other local restaurants such as Homegrown, and Community Q.

Starting at 10 a.m., market visitors will be able to participate in a sampling of collard greens from the kitchens of Atlanta area restaurants and homes. In addition to the judged awards, attendees will vote for the People’s Choice award among all entrants, in return for a $10 donation to benefit Wholesome Wave Georgia, a program that doubles WIC and EBT dollars at Farmer’s Markets.
