Ben CohenEvents to mark anniversary of LGBT rights movement

June marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Inn riots in New York City in 1969, which is considered to be the launchpad for the modern gay and lesbian rights movement in America. Atlanta Pride is hosting, co-sponsoring or promoting a list of upcoming events to coincide with Stonewall month.

Some of the upcoming events include The Big Gay Sing hosted by the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus on June 15, a legal clinic for same sex couples on June 16, dine out nights to support Atlanta Pride Gilbert’s, Hobnob and 10th & Piedmont on June 17, Out in the Stands at Turner Field as the Braves vs. NY Mets to benefit rugby star Ben Cohen’s StandUp Foundation (pictured) against bullying on June 18, another dine out at Osteria 832 in Virgina Highland on June 19, the Emory Gay and Lesbian Alumni celebration of the LGBT Archives on June 20 and the Pride Run on June 22 at Piedmont Park.
