The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Homicide

1900 block of Wellbourne Drive, NE – A homicide at an apartment was reported on July 6. Officers arrived to the unit and discovered a man lying on the floor. Upon further investigation, it was determined he had expired from a gunshot wound. The suspect was later apprehended without incident.

Rape

3000 block of Lenox Road, NE – A rape was reported at an assisted living center on June 30. A caregiver received a phone call from a man saying he was raping one of the residents.  Another care manager checked and saw the victim sitting in a chair outside the locked facility.

3000 block of Verdun Drive, NW – A rape was reported on July 8. A woman said she was sexually assaulted by her husband at their residence but did not want police involvement.

Assault

24000 block of Plantation Drive, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on June 30.  A man said the accused used racial slurs and threatened his life, then hit him with her shoe multiple times. The woman also caused damage to the residence.

1100 block of Huff Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on July 1. A woman said her boyfriend, whom she lives with at the residence, was intoxicated.  She said they got into a dispute about a picture of a woman on his phone. She said that she was trying to sleep, but the suspect kept standing over her, yelling. The victim said he pushed her off the bed, causing a laceration on the left side of her face, which was noted by the officer.  She said she pushed him and threw water on him. The suspect said the woman pushed him and slapped him four times in the face. The suspect said she threw a glass at him. The left side of his face was red and swollen. The suspect said that he had a couple of drinks earlier in the evening.

1800 block of Greystone Road, NW – An aggravated assault at a residence was reported on July 2. The suspect was upset that his father would not let him move back in, so he broke all the windows, used a propane tank to shatter the front glass door, spilled gasoline inside the house, threw a lit match, and set the house on fire.  The victim fled to a neighbor’s house with an injured hand.  The father said his son was a drug addict and had been violent toward him in the past.

100 block of 26th Street, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on July 7. A woman had a verbal altercation with her niece, inside her home, which turned physical.  She said she was knocked unconscious during the altercation, and had visible bruises on her foot, forehead and arms.  Her niece said she was defending herself and neither wanted to press charges.  The victim later went to Piedmont Hospital, and said her boyfriend slammed her head, stomped her feet and hit her head for calling the police.

3200 block of Peachtree Road, NE – An aggravated assault at a hotel was reported on July 7. A woman and her husband were intoxicated and had a verbal altercation, which turned physical.  After the couple exited the elevator on the 7th floor, the husband struck his wife across her left cheek, which left a red mark.

1100 block of Woodland Avenue, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on July 9. The arrestee pushed a TV off a counter; it broke and caused a laceration on the arrestee’s leg.  The victim said the arrestee also wrapped a leash around her neck.

700 block of 17th Street, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on July 13. A woman and her male friend were leaving a nightclub on 10th Street when they were confronted by the man’s girlfriend.  The suspect reached into the vehicle, and pushed and slapped the victim.  The man rolled the window up and drove off, but they were followed by the suspect until they stopped in the 700 block of 17th Street.  When the man and woman got out of the vehicle to talk to the suspect, the suspect struck the victim in her face with a high-heeled shoe.  The man grabbed the suspect off the victim and they drove away.  The victim had a black left eye, bruising and discoloration below the right eye, and sore fingers.

Robbery

2300 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE – A commercial robbery was reported on July 3. An unknown man entered the business and forced his way behind the counter. He then produced a knife and threatened the clerk. The suspect stole $900 cash from the register and ran out.

4000 block of Randle Mill Road, NW – A robbery at a residence was reported on July 5.  Three men entered the home through an unlocked door, held the housekeeper at gun point and then stole items from the home. The suspects left with three pillow cases and got into a small pickup truck. The suspects were in the home for about an hour before leaving.

3200 block of Roswell Road, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on July 6.  A man was walking when two other men hit him in the head and tasered him in the right ear and right shoulder, close to his chest.  The suspects demanded his iPhone and his wallet, which contained a credit card. The victim smelled of alcohol. He later changed the suspect count from two to three, and said he did not get a good look at the suspects.  He had one laceration on the top of his head and a laceration on the right arm, but showed no markings consistent with being tasered. He refused EMS.

1900 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A pedestrian robbery was reported on July 10.  A man and woman had just finished closing the bar and were walking to her car when two unknown men approached with guns and demanded the other man’s property.  He gave up his wallet and cell phone, and when the woman started to walk away, the suspects yelled and demanded her car keys and iPhone 5.

1900 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A robbery at a hotel was reported on July 11. A woman said while letting a guest out of her hotel room a stranger punched her and she went unconscious. When she awoke,   money and a safe were missing from the room. She had a cut to her jaw but refused medical attention.

3500 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on July 11. A man and woman were walking to the woman’s vehicle when they were approached by an unknown man and woman.  The male suspect pointed a gun and demanded everything in the victims’ pockets -their wallets, chains and bracelets.  The female suspect gathered the items and told the victims to run in the opposite direction.  Both suspects entered the victims’ vehicle and drove off in an unknown direction.

Burglary

1400 block of Mecaslin Street, NW – A residential burglary was reported on July 1.  A man walked into his apartment and found another man in there.  The victim attempted to lock the suspect in the apartment, but the suspect got away with the victim’s laptop, iPad, digital camera and the keys to his 2007 Chevy.

900 block of Peachtree Battle Avenue, NW – A residential burglary was reported on July 9.  The pillow cases were removed from the master bedroom, and a 12-piece silverware set, a woman’s Rolex watch, miscellaneous jewelry, rare coins, a Macbook Pro laptop, an Apple desktop computer and a Sony 55 inch flat screen TV were taken. No signs of forced entry.

1100 block of Huff Road, NW – A residential burglary was reported on July 12. The three victims said that an unknown suspect banged on the door and attempted to enter the apartment. They hid in the closet while the suspect entered the apartment. W hen officers arrived they found the victims in the closet.

900 block of Sidney Marcus Boulevard, NE – A commercial burglary was reported on July 12. The reporting party said when she returned to the clubhouse, she noticed it looked like a party had occurred inside. She believed entry was made by using the keypad on the door.  There were broken wine glasses, chips, soda and used cigarettes left on the table. No signs of forced entry.

Larceny

3400 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a department store was reported on July 1. The arrestee was seen on video selecting items valued at $600. He then swallowed the six cuff links and attempted to leave without paying.  A Grady unit arrived on the scene and transported him to the hospital.

3500 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on July 1.  A man entered the store, selected a pair of $1,290 shoes, placed them in the front of his pants, and ran out.

2000 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from an apartment was reported on July 1. The victim met a man, known only as “Isaiah,” at a train station, brought him home, and allowed him to stay at his apartment for two days.  The victim believes the suspect took his computer when he left the apartment.  The suspect sent the victim an email saying he would kill him, and asked that they meet at Country Inn Suites in Cartersville, Ga., so the victim could pick up the computer.

1200 block of W. Conway Drive, NW – A larceny from a residence was reported on July 3. A man said he is divorcing his wife, and found his clothes were missing. He suspects his wife took them or threw them away because he stopped giving her money.  The wife denied taking the clothes.

1200 block of Logan Circle, NW – A larceny from a business was reported on July 3.  The suspect cut through the fence and stole a drop cloth, portable scaffolding and three ladders.

400 block of Hascall Road, NE – A larceny from a residence was reported on July 3.  A woman came into the precinct and said her Rolex watch, and a Cartier band was taken from her home.  She said her home is on the market and several people have been in and out. She is also currently renting her home.

2100 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a restaurant was reported on July 5.  Two men and a woman walked in and asked for menus then snatched the victim’s cell phone. They ran out of the restaurant and got into a Cadillac Seville.

4100 block of Chastain Drive, NE – A larceny was reported on July 5.  A man had two women at his apartment, and they stole a PlayStation game console with controllers, watches, a gold chain, iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPad 2, apartment mailbox keys, sunglasses, a wallet with credit cards, and a 32-inch television. The victim was asleep during the theft.

1400 block of W. Paces Ferry Road, NW – A larceny was reported on July 6.  A man entered wearing a motorcycle helmet, and produced a receipt for a package that was delivered to the office.  When the victim returned with the package, the man was gone and the victim’s iPhone was taken off the desk.   The phone was turned off and could not be tracked.

700 block of Old Ivy Road, NE – A larceny was reported on July 8.  A man said his roommate invited 30 friends over and he left his .357 Magnum firearm in a gun box beside his bed.  He said when he returned home, his weapon was not there.

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny was reported on July 11. A woman was seen on video selecting items valued at $225, concealing them in a foil-lined bag she was carrying, and attempting to leave without paying. When she was stopped by loss prevention, she started screaming, then dropped the bag and ran down the stairs and away from the location.

Larceny from Auto

2500 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from an auto in a parking garage was reported on July 1.  An unknown suspect entered a man’s vehicle and stole his black backpack with his NFL playbook, iPad, gold championship ring and Michael Kors watch.

200 block of Pharr Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on July 5. An unknown suspect entered a woman’s unlocked vehicle and stole her vehicle’s owner’s manual, a first aid kit, sunglasses and umbrella.

1900 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on July 12.                 An officer noticed a black Crown Victoria with blacked-out wheels parallel parked on Collier Road, with three or four men in the vehicle and one outside of the vehicle.  By the time he turned around, the vehicle was gone, and two black bags and a blue book bag with miscellaneous documents and textbooks were lying in the street where the vehicle had been parked.  The officer found the victim’s checkbook, went to the residence, and was told by the wife that her husband and son were at a restaurant on Howell Mill Road.  The rear driver windows on the victims’ vehicle were broken.  The bags were returned to the victims, who said a Chastain Park parking pass, six “Kansas and Toto” concert tickets and office keys were missing.

Auto Theft

1600 block of Piedmont Avenue, NE – An auto theft was reported on July 12. A man parked a 2002 Kia Sportage in the parking lot, and left the keys in the door. A suspect stole his keys and his vehicle.
