Wabi Sabi, the Atlanta Ballet’s contemporary chamber performance group, pirouettes back into the Atlanta Botanical Garden tonight, Aug. 15, for Cocktails in the Garden. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. Another performance at Cocktails in the Garden is set for Aug. 22 at the same time.
Created by Atlanta Ballet veteran company dancer John Welker in 2011, Wabi Sabi seeks to push the boundaries of ballet through the creation of new works by the next generation of choreographic talent. This year’s performances include new choreography by Welker, Tara Lee, Heath Gill, Rachelle Scott, Michael Smith, Jennifer Archibald and Gregory Dolbashian. Wabi Sabi takes its name from a Japanese worldview that finds beauty in the sincerity, simplicity, and integrity of the natural world.
