About 400 people took part in Ahimsa House’s “Wag and Walk” 5K and Fun Run at Lenox Park in Brookhaven on Aug. 24. “This is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Ahimsa House executive director Maya Gupta.

The non-profit group helps care for pets from homes with domestic abuse so victims of abuse can seek help. On its webpage, Ahimsa House says it “provides emergency pet safe housing, veterinary care, pet-related safety planning, legal advocacy, a 24-hour crisis line, outreach programs, and other services to help the human and animal victims of domestic violence reach safety together.”
