Buckhead Police Blotter, Reports dated July 28 through Aug. 10.

The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Rape

2000 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A woman, who lives under a bridge near a grocery store, on Aug. 10 ran to the store and said she was raped by four known men who live under the bridge.  Two men were located and two men had left the scene.  The arrestees said the woman lied about the incident but would not give any additional details.  All of the subjects involved were confirmed to be intoxicated, but the victim was clearly able to articulate the crimes and wanted to prosecute.  She was transported to Grady Hospital for a sexual assault kit.

Assault

3000 block of Nancy Creek Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on July 31. A woman and her three children were in their vehicle, and had just returned home when they saw a gold, newer model Jeep Cherokee parked in their driveway.  When the victim pulled up, four men, ages 18 to 20, ran from the back of the left side of her house and got in their vehicle.  The vehicle backed up swiftly, went in the grass and turned around, but the victim’s vehicle was blocking it.  The driver exited the vehicle and pointed a gray/black gun at them and motioned them to back up.  The victim backed out of her driveway, the Jeep sideswiped their vehicle, and fled south on Nancy Creek Road.  Footprints were found on the wet grass and the patio area.

3100 block of Piedmont Road, NE –An aggravated assault at a restaurant was reported on Aug. 2. Two male employees got into a physical confrontation inside the restaurant after the victim dropped a skewer of meat in front of the suspect.  The suspect punched the victim in the back and in the face. Both men fought, and the manager ordered them to go home.  In the parking lot, the suspect and victim fought, and the suspect pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim. The victim ran, the suspect gave chase, tripped and fell to the ground.  The manager separated the victim and suspect, and the suspect left in his vehicle.  The manager dressed the victim’s wound and followed him to St. Joseph’s, where the incident was reported.

1200 block of Mackintosh Park, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on Aug. 4. A man went to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment to pay her some money, and she told him to get out. He said he did not have money to get a ride home, and she yelled at him, and also cut him on the left hand with a box cutter, causing him to need stitches.

2400 block of Piedmont Road, NE – An aggravated assault at a nightclub was reported on Aug. 6. The victim’s sister said three days earlier, her sister was at a bar having a social gathering with friends when an unknown man grabbed her sister by the waist.  The man made several attempts to lift her sister in the air and she repeatedly told him no.  The man lifted her sister in the air, was not strong enough to hold her, dropped her on her head, and fell on top of her.  Her sister was not able to move and was transported to Atlanta Medical Center, where she is hospitalized and paralyzed.  It is unknown if the man was intoxicated, and unknown which direction he went.

2400 block of Camellia Lane, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on Aug. 8.  A man was struck in the head by his roommate with a curling iron, causing injuries to his head.

600 block of Garson Drive, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on Aug.10.                The suspect struck a woman with an empty tequila bottle. She suffered a laceration to the right side of her mouth area that required several stitches and caused numerous broken teeth.

Robbery

3700 block of Roswell Road, NE – A robbery at a residence was reported on July 31. A woman argued with her boyfriend and entered her bedroom to get away from him.  He followed her inside the room, and when she attempted to leave, he grabbed her by the neck with his hand and shoved her on her bed, choked her, and she lost consciousness for a period of time.  She saw him gather his belongings, and asked him to leave and not take her things.  He left, and once she was able to regain some strength, she opened her front door and found her wallet lying on the ground with $491 cash and a credit card missing.

2800 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A commercial robbery was reported on July 31.  The suspect entered the location, selected merchandise, and passed all points of sale without making a purchase. An employee chased after the fleeing suspect, and the suspect pulled a knife out on him.

3200 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A commercial robbery was reported on July 31. Three men entered the barbershop, and a man wearing all white said he wanted a haircut.  Then, right behind him, two other men with guns told each person to empty their pockets, and told a victim to take his necklace and ring off.  One suspect said “Y’all already know what this is, put everything in your pockets on the floor.”  The men took two cellphones, a wallet, two driver’s licenses and approximately $1,600 cash, then ran out of the shop and jumped into a silver 2010 Dodge Ram.

2000 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A commercial robbery was reported on Aug. 3.  The cashier was conducting an inventory of the store and returned to the unlocked cashier’s booth when he was met by

suspect No. 1, who had a handgun in his right hand. The suspect gave instructions to the cashier.  The cashier removed the cash drawer from register No.2 and dumped $913 into the suspect’s bag.  While this was taking place, suspect No. 2 entered the store and went to the rear storage/office area, turned off the power, and shot off one round from his gun.  Suspect No. 1 told the cashier they were not playing with him and wanted the money from the safe.  The cashier was not able to open the safe, and was told to call his boss or the owner to get the code. The cashier made the call, but was unable to open the safe.  The  suspects ran out the rear side of the store and to an unknown location.

Burglary

1300 block of Marietta Boulevard, NW – A commercial burglary was reported on July 30.  A unit responded to an audible alarm and saw the front store window and frame were damaged.  Hair products were taken from the front of the store and a box of old hair was taken from the rear of the store.  Scattered pieces of a bumper and rear taillight lens from a large vehicle were found on the ground.

1100 block of Liberty Parkway, NW – A residential burglary was reported on Aug. 9. The suspect kicked in the rear door, entered the residence, and stole 200 pairs of shoes, an iPad and two watches.

1100 block of Woodland Avenue, NE – A residential burglary was reported on Aug. 9.  The front window was found open.  An air compressor, a TV, a chain saw, titles to three vehicles and vehicle keys were taken.  The victim’s box truck was found open with items missing and the transmission was on the ground.  A white Chevrolet Tahoe the victim purchased from the suspect was also taken.

1700 block of Peachtree Street, NW – Two commercial burglaries were reported on July 29. 

Larceny

2000 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny was reported on July 29.                  The suspects sold the victim’s clothes, shoes, music equipment and laptop while he was incarcerated.  One suspect told the victim his property was sold through a Facebook posting and through text messages.

2000 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from a discount store was reported on July 30.  An unidentified man was seen selecting two electronic toothbrushes and leaving the location.

400 block of Lindbergh Drive, NE – A larceny at an apartment was reported on July 31. A man noticed his electricity bills were extremely high, so he had an electrician come to check the meter and found wires were crossed from Unit 1 to Unit 2, causing his bill to be high.

2300 block of Defoors Ferry Road, NW – A larceny from a residence was reported on Aug. 1. Three thousand dollars in cash was removed from an envelope that was inside a cabinet locker. A man said a cleaning lady was the last person he knew who was inside his home when the money was there, and said she has not returned to his home after several attempts to have her do more work.

4400 block of Northside Parkway, NW – A larceny from a residence was reported on Aug. 3.  A woman said someone stole her Nutella sandwich spread, Go phone, iPod and Nikon digital camera from the location. No sign of forced entry.

2900 block of Peachtree Road, NW – A larceny was reported on Aug.6. The arrestee was seen selecting a comic book from the shelf and removing the bar code. He then attempted to leave without paying.

3000 block of Peachtree Road, NW – A larceny was reported on Aug. 8.                 The front door was left unlocked and two laptops were taken off desks.  The security guard challenged a suspicious man carrying a black leather bag exiting the building, and the man took off running down street with the black bag.

2600 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from a discount store was reported on Aug. 10. A woman left her book bag in a fitting room. After she realized she left it there, she returned, and another woman in the fitting room passed her book bag to her under the door. The victim later realized that approximately $800 in cash was missing from her wallet.

3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – Larcenies were reported on July 28, 29, 31, Aug. 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10.

Larceny from Auto

1000 block of Huff Road, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on July 30.             Windows were damaged on six vehicles and glove boxes were found open.  A fleece blanket with the victim’s name stitched in, two gift bags from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and a purse were taken from one vehicle.

1400 block of Chattahoochee Avenue, NW –A larceny from an auto was reported on July 30. Windows were broken on four vehicles and a driver door lock was jimmied on one vehicle.  A purse, an Alpine in- dash radio/CD player, a Bluetooth headset and a pair of sandals were taken.  A witness heard a car alarm go off and saw a man quickly drive out of the parking lot in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup, either a 4-door or extended cab with a front metal brush guard over the grill and a black tool box in the bed.

3000 block of Roswell Road, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on July 31. An unknown suspect jimmied the door on the victim’s vehicle and stole a $3,000 Chanel bag and a $650 iPad.

3500 block of Peachtree Road, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on Aug. 2.  No signs of forced entry.  An iPad, a bank balance book, perfume lotion and a plug-in fragrance were taken.

1400 block of W. Paces Ferry Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on Aug. 3. A woman left her purse in an unlocked car with $1,500 in cash and a ring valued at $50,000 in the purse, which was taken. There were cameras, but nothing on them showing a suspect.

3500 block of Northside Parkway, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on Aug. 9. The victim parked a 1998 Ford F15 in a parking garage, and returned to find a window broken and a wallet, chainsaw, and stereo was stolen.  There are no known suspects at this time.

1300 block of N. Highland Avenue, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on July 30, and two other incidents were reported on Aug. 1.

1400 block of N. Highland Avenue, NE – Four larcenies from autos were reported on Aug. 3.

1900 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on Aug. 1, 3.  

Auto Theft

1300 block of W. Paces Ferry Road, NW – An auto theft was reported on July 30. An unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle after the keys and a cell phone were left inside.

1700 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – An auto theft was reported on July 30. An unknown suspect stole the keys from the location, then later took the vehicle after it was dropped off for service.

2100 block Peachtree Road, NW – An auto theft from a restaurant was reported on July 30. A 2011 GMC Yukon was taken from the parking lot. A Glock 9mm handgun, iPad, laptop, three checkbooks, a Nike watch, golf clubs and several pieces of clothing were also taken.
