Homewood Suites by Hilton has announced it will build a 15-story hotel  in the Luckie Marietta District, the first ground-up hotel development in Downtown Atlanta in five years. The hotel, which will be developed by Legacy Property Group, will be the districts’s first extended-stay hotel and Homewood Suites’ tenth open or planned property in metro Atlanta.

The 129-suite hotel will utilize many of the in-place facilities of  the Park Pavilion mixed-use project, which includes a 670-car public parking deck, a public helipad and 50,000 square feet of restaurant and retail tenants including such favorites as Legal Sea Foods, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Der Biergarten, STATS, Max’s Pizza, Subway, Park Avenue Deli, Baja Fresh and Johnny Rockets. The hotel will also be a short walk to the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola and Centennial Park.

Construction is set to begin in the second quarter of 2014, and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2015.
