Proponents of creating a city of Briarcliff have raised $30,000 to commission a study into the feasibility of the potential DeKalb County city, said Allen Venet, president of the City of Briarcliff Initiative.

The study, which will be conducted by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia,  is required before the state Legislature will take up the issue of cityhood.

Around 200 residents of the proposed City of Briarcliff came out for an update and informational meeting Sept. 12 at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church, according to Atlanta Intown. Questions taken after the update showed there are concerns about taxes, schools, services and some who want to opt completely out of the cityhood plan.
