The City of Sandy Springs is looking at buying 4.9 acres at intersection of Spalding Drive and River Exchange Parkway for a new park.

City spokeswoman Sharon Kraun announced via press release that the property purchase will be on City Council’s Oct. 15 meeting agenda. The proposed park is in District 1, represented by City Councilman John Paulson.

“Residents in this area have long wanted park development for the northeastern part of the City.  The location and availability of this property gives us the opportunity to fill that request,” Paulson said in the press release.

City attorney Wendell Willard said the purchase price will be approximately $150,000.

The new green space would be located near the Chattahoochee National Park.
