Both the boys and girls cross country running teams at North Atlanta won the Atlanta Public Schools cross country championships on Oct. 16, the first time both teams have claimed the title in the same year.
“Sophomore Madeline Pearce led the girls by cruising 21:20 on the tough 5K course for the win,” a press release from the school says. “Pearce increased her lead in each mile as she bested second place Grace Powers of Grady by 50 seconds. Her time broke both the course and meet record set in 2006 by Latasha Wright of Mays by 36 seconds.”
“Senior captain John Rudd defended his individual title in leading the boys to the win as he clocked his best ever time for the course (17:50),” the press release says. “The boys also placed all five scorers in the top ten.”
