Sandy Springs City Manager John McDonough is out of town this week, visiting Yokohama, Japan for the third annual Smart City Week conference.
Sandy Springs is included because of its unique model of outsourcing most of its services to private contractors. McDonough is among a handful of city employees, not counting policemen and fire fighters.
“McDonough is recognized as a leading authority on the implementation of the Public-Private Partnership, and has presented nationally and internationally on the potential benefits to local government,” the city said in a press release. “Working with Sandy Springs elected officials, McDonough is tasked with building a service delivery model for Sandy Springs that is responsive, efficient and cost effective.”
