Atlanta Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the person who shot Atlanta Police Officer Christopher L. Smith on Saturday night, Nov. 9, at the Edgewood Court Apartments on Hardee Street in Atlanta.
Smith was working an approved off-duty security job at the complex when he was ambushed and shot in the face and leg. Smith has since been released from the hospital. Police officials said they believe a shotgun was used by the unknown assailant. A motive for the shooting has not been established.
