A 51-year-old Lawrenceville man died Saturday, Nov. 16, after he was struck by two vehicles as he tried to walk across I-285 in Dunwoody, police reported.

Darryl Spencer Ward was struck by two vehicles on I-285 near Ashford-Dunwoody Road about 9:57 p.m. as he attempted to cross the interstate highway, Dunwoody police said on Nov. 18. About 10 minutes earlier, police responded to a call of a theft nearby at Perimeter Mall. The suspect fled on foot. “It is suspected that Mr. Ward was attempting to cross I-285 to elude police,” Dunwoody police said in a press release.

The crash remains under investigation, but no charges are expected against the drivers, police said.
