The City of Atlanta and Georgia’s Department of Transportation said they are prepared if winter weather should hit metro Atlanta or north Georgia. Rain, sleet and snow is expected for North Georgia, although the risk to metro Atlanta is slight, according to a report from our affiliate CBS Atlanta.

“Our crews are ready to load and hit the road,” said GDOT spokeswoman Teri Pope.

The state said the agency has more than 6,300 tons of salt, nearly 7,000 tons of gravel and 118 plows, salt spreaders and other equipment to use in the metro Atlanta area.
