Locally-owned stores are gearing up for Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30, encouraging holiday shoppers to spend some of their cash at independent stores. Hundreds of local retailers and restaurants are taking part in the day-long event sponsored by American Express. You can map all the businesses taking part in the event at this link.
East Atlanta Village businesses are participating in the special shopping day, which also happens to coincide with Indies First – a special promotion to encourage book lovers to shop at independent bookstores. Bound to Be Read Books in EAV will feature local authors as “guest booksellers” all day long including David Fulmer, Katherine Hester, Allan Kemp, INtown’s own Collin Kelley and Laurel Snyder. Charis Books & More in Little Five Points is also taking part in Indies First with Pearl Cleage, Isabel Wilkerson and Fiona Zedde.
In Midtown, the Midtown Neighborhood Association, Patch and American Express have teamed up to offer free parking around the district from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Small Business Saturday. The free parking will be provided at almost 100 metered spaces on sections of Peachtree Place, 8th, 7th and 6th between Peachtree and West Peachtree Streets.
