The members of the Peachtree Road Task Force are holding two public meetings on Dec. 10 to discuss proposed fixes to Buckhead’s most notorious road.

The meetings will be held at  the Woodruff Plaza, Shepherd Center, located at 2020 Peachtree Road NW Atlanta, GA 30309. There will be a morning and afternoon session. Business owners are invited to attend from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the general public is invited to attend from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Task Force is made up of representatives from the Buckhead Community Improvement District, the city of Atlanta, the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Midtown Alliance.

The announcement of the meeting also included these statistics about Peachtree Road:

• Between 2010 and 2012, rear-end crashes increased from 78 to 129 on Peachtree Rd.

• Side-swipe crashes increased from 64 to 113

• Peachtree Road crash rates are above the statewide averages in all severity categories

“We invite you to attend a transportation Public Information Open House to learn more about proposed changes to Peachtree Rd aimed at improving safety and traffic flow and offer us your guidance and opinions on what makes the most sense for your neighborhood,” the meeting announcement says.
